I'd like to produce Folk Stories from Southern Nigeria, West Africa by Elphinstone Dayrell as my first project. It looks interesting and isn't too long.

Hello, your links point to an Edith Wharton book?

I think I found the book you're referring to on PG. This would be a good
first production, however there's another book by the same author on PG
titled "Ikom folk stories from Southern Nigeria". Should these be merged
into one ebook if they're both folk tales from the same region?

Ikom Folk Stories is a different book by the same author, focusing on stories from one tribe instead of several, like the first book.

OK sure, then that one would be a good start.

Since there's an introduction you'll have to include a half title page.
I also see some verse, see the manual for copy and paste CSS. I also see
some footnotes that will have to be converted to endnotes. Cut "The end"
and everything after it.

Make sure to read the Standard Ebooks Manual of Style before starting,
as you won't know what to fix if you haven't read the standards. In
particular, please closely review the semantics, high level patterns,
and typography sections:

Alright, thank you. Do I have to cut the introduction as well? I practised creating it but when splitting the body.xhtml file it counted the introduction as chapter 1 and the actual chapters were messed up.

Also, I'm having issues with the table of contents. According to the SEMoS, it should be like this:

but when I view the toc.xhtml in a browser it only shows the chapter as "I: CHAPTER TITLE".

OK, Lukas will manage with Weijia reviewing.

If you have filled out the ToC but in your browser you don't see your
changes, then you're opening the wrong file.

`se build-toc` will fill it out for you, you almost never have to touch
the ToC file by hand. However, you need the <title> elements for each
file filled out first, which `se build-title` can do.
