I would to start my next project as soon as my previous finishes being reviewed. I would like to produce a collection of short stories by Clark Ashton Smith. I made a spreadsheet of his works.
Luckily, nearly all of his works are already transcribed at EldritchDark, so no transcription is required for now. The only story missing that could be added now is the "The Flirt," which also doesn't seem to have an available scan online. In total, the book would have 12 stories until 2027.
For the cover, I'm thinking of using The Nightmare, if this works as PD proof. Several of his stories involve monsters and demons, so I think this works.

He only has 2 works on PG, both poetry. He mostly published after 1930.
How is any of the rest of his work US-PD?

Looking at his bibliography, it looks like he has several "cycles" of
themed work - see the Ballantine Adult Fantasy collections. How should
we do those?

The "cycles" are similar to Lovecraft's Dream Cycle, series of stories loosely connected by characters or settings, but can be read independently (it just one exception, I believe). I think there are three possibilities:
1 - Make a short fiction collection with all stories, without any division;
2 - Make a short fiction collection with some stories, and other omnibuses with related stories (e.g. Zothique, Averoigne, etc.); or
3 - Make a short fiction collection with all stories, but grouping some stories in their appropriate "set".
The first option is the easiest, of course, but I'm not if it is the best. I personally would go with option 3. This allows readers to identify related material and stop us from having collections that would have one or two stories for several years. If we want to make a Averoigne Stories omnibus, for instance, it would have only one story this year ("The End of the Story").
I'll go with whatever you think is best, but I think option 3 would be a good approach.

OK. Since they will be out of PD for so long we can just include them in
a single omnibus. Then, once a more reasonable amount enter PD, we can
split them off into separate omnibuses if necessary, like we're doing
with Conan.

I'll add this to the art db. I think you need a little tighter crop so that the title covers the woman.

I think this is ready for a review, Lukas.
Nothing much to say. The transcription made some mistakes, which I found and fixed. I also changed the cover crop a little to have the incubus slight more to the left and the woman appearing above the title; if you think something like the first crop was better I can revert.

Nice work Hendrik. I filed a review, just a few small things.

Hendrik can you add a few lines to the long description with some
details about some of the more famous stories? Maybe a single sentence
summarizing/describing each of the 2 or 3 more famous or interesting ones?

I added a little to the long-description. Smith never got the fame and influence of some of his colleagues, so he doesn't have works quite as famous as some of Lovecraft's or Howard's. I added a short paragraph mentioning the his stories are diverse, and citing some of the stories as examples, without actually talking about the plot, as well as that some of his most famous works are still copyrighted in the last paragraph.
