Going to pick up Spielhagen’s The Breaking of the Storm which has been on my list for a while, 250k words of north German business and societal intrigue in the 1870s. Sources and transcriptions:

The trigger in the fiction is the real 1872 Baltic Sea flood, so I’ll claim Early Morning After a Storm at Sea for the cover art, will assign when there’s a DB entry.

OK, David will manage with Weijia reviewing. North German business,
exciting!

I went ahead and assigned the artwork, Robin - it was the (very!) least I could do!

OK Weijia, this is ready for review: https://github.com/robinwhittleton/friedrich-spielhagen_the-breaking-of-the-storm_s-e-a-h-stephenson/

  • 6 books, originally split unevenly over 3 volumes but I’ve removed the volume split.
  • Gutenberg sources in mostly good shape, with 15-20 reported issues per volume. The weirdest problem was that volume 2 had removed all paragraph breaks apart from when the new paragraph started with a quote mark. No idea, but I fixed it in https://github.com/robinwhittleton/friedrich-spielhagen_the-breaking-of-the-storm_s-e-a-h-stephenson/commit/96cd5b0fa5ad80ea0b2aa43f4672c049fc7dbca0.
  • The usual semantics: a handful of songs, letters, telegrams, ships, sculptures, some Italian and French, etc.
  • There are a few Editorial commits for additional spelling changes. Please let me know if you disagree with any of them.
  • I couldn’t find any info on the translator “S. E. A. H. Stephenson” so I’ve just left them as that.

I enjoyed reading this about as much as I thought I would: North German class divide stuff is somewhat frustrating, but everything ramps up in book six as we reach the denouement and the literal storm hits. Not the best, but a worth addition to SE.

Thanks, fixed everything you mentioned apart from build-images where I’m not seeing any changes.
