I'm working on finishing touches on Road to Oz and then would like to start working on Blind Mice by C. Kay Scott.

It's listed as Patron Selection on the Wanted Books page.

Sure. Looks like there are thematic breaks in the form of large spaces
between paragraphs. Make sure to use <hr/> for those. Since there is a
dedication you will have to add a half title page. Please send a link to
your repo once you get started!

I've reached the stage of building the ToC. I'm getting an error that the tools can't find the title in halftitlepage.xhtml

I copied the half-title html straight from SEMoS and see a title element sitting right where it should in the <head> section. Can anyone else spot the mistake I made?

attached is the full xhtml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops" epub:prefix="z3998: http://www.daisy.org/z3998/2012/vocab/structure/, se: https://standardebooks.org/vocab/1.0" xml:lang="en-US">
  <head>
    <title>Blind Mice</title>
    <link href="../css/core.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/>
    <link href="../css/local.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/>
  </head>
  <body epub:type="frontmatter">
    <section id="halftitlepage" epub:type="halftitlepage">
      <h2>Blind Mice</h2>
    </section>
  </body>
</html>

Nevermind, I mixed up <title> as in file title and title as in the book title I had forgotten to mark the epub:type on the h2

I am beginning my proofread but did get some reading in during the manual semantics to get a proposed cover together

Proposing using Camille Corot's The Letter as the cover. The person in the image is not quite contemporary to the characters but paintings by Corot are mentioned in the story in a few chapters and letters and telegrams provide some of the big plot points. Since Corot is called out in scenes talking about visits to art museums, I searched Corot specifically for the cover.

The painting is listed Open Access by the Met: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/435976
