I would like to work on this.

OK, sure. But before you get started, you should confirm the translators
of the stories that are listed as translated by "Books, Inc.".

For example, "An Honest Thief" is listed as "Books, Inc.", however it's
actually Constance Garnett, as shown by these page scans:
https://archive.org/details/dli.bengal.10689.8923/page/n7/mode/1up

Can you go over the "Books Inc" entries and find the actual translators?
Note that you have to match the first paragraph, don't just go by what's
on the titlepage.

The book in the archive.org link does not specify translators, it doesn't even say that Books, Inc. is the translator. As you did with "An Honest Thief," perhaps I should find volumes that do specify a translator.

It says " translated from the russian by constance garnett" right on the
title page. Every story in that collection is translated by her.

I see what you're saying, just find the match and cite the translator.

What I mean is the Books Inc. book does not specify a translator. The book you cited has all the stories in the Books, Inc book and specifies Constance Garnett as the translator. Should I change the archive links to that book?

Also, "A Gentle Spirit" has no trancscription on PG. There are pdfs on the web though. If one matches the Garnett translation can it be used?

Yes, that's what I'm telling you to do, and update the translators in
the spreadsheet to the real translator. Then go through the rest of the
items listed as "books inc" and see if you can find the actual translator.

I would like to point out that I'm running a project at PGDP for the missing short story (as well as the two novels). It will take quite a while for it to finish. If we want the story for this edition I could start a project at Wikisource, which would be faster.

Constance Garnett was the translator for all the stories in the Book Inc. book. Should that remain the archive link or should it be updated to a book  which cites her as the translator?

You can update the spreadsheet with the new IA link, and the correct
translator.

Since Hendrik says the missing short story is being transcribed, we
should wait until that's done to work on this, because it's very
annoying to add a new story later once book is already done.

The PGDP project will likely take quite a while (it is still to enter P3). If we don't want to wait, we can work on the Wikisource (which is the Garnett translation, but from a 1917 edition). It is about 30 pages, so it isn't too difficult to work on. I'll start transcribing, but it would be useful if at least one other person validates the text.
