Cover time! It proved more difficult than I thought to find a portrait (boring, but with a title like "Simon", this seemed the way to go) of  "a thickset man of middle height and elderly middle age, with cold steady eyes and grizzled hair. His clean shaved face was chiefly remarkable for the hardness of his tight-shut mouth, and the obstinacy of the chin beneath it." But I think this CC0 fits quite well (perhaps not the hair, but close enough?) —

Thanks, Weijia. So this is now ready for review, Lukas. A pretty simple production, so I hope I haven't left much detritus! A couple notes:

• for the c22 blockquote blockquote, compare scan;
• there's a telegram that comes up a couple times. It's embedded rather than blockquoted, so I've treated it with `span`s.

I think that's it.
