to Standard Ebooks
Hello,
I just came across Standard eBooks. What a great idea and effort.
I downloaded the "Passage to India" book and noticed that, in the Calibre ereader, the cover for that book does not actually appear when opening the book. I tried a couple of minor things with the ebook to get Calibre to show the cover art, but with no luck. I downloaded another title and had the same result. I also tried on my phone (Android) using ReadEra with the same result.
I did note that the covers do show on the in the library for both Calibre on my PC and ReadEra on my phone.
Are the books designed to not show their covers when actually opening them up in an ereader?

Correct, the cover only appears in the library view and not within the
ebook itself - you've already "opened" the book at that point.

Thank you for the reply.
If someone wanted to have the cover show when opening in a larger format than what a large thumbnail can provide in a grid, would it be possible to edit or add a file in an .epub package (without breaking things) so that the cover would display when opening the book? Not unlike seeing a title on the spine of a book on a bookshelf, pulling the book out, and examining the cover artwork in more detail.

Sure, you can edit any epub to do whatever you like. Sigil is a good
WYSWIG epub editor.
