Hello all,

I found PD scans of "Catherine Carmichael," one of the 3 missing stories from the Short Fiction collection of Anthony Trollope. It looks like it was published twice in Masonic Magazine, once in June 1879 in the US (likely coming after the British publication the previous December) and again in December 1885.

And after the winter apocalypse in the US is over, it looks like "Never, Never -- Never, Never" is only in one copy in the Boston Public Library, so that'd be the only way to potentially get page scans, unless they can be found otherwise. However, there are old catalogue cards from the Boston Public Library (front side and back side) that list the Trollope story and the date of publication. Not sure if that counts for PD proof, though. (Here's another transcription from the University of York, in case we don't want the one from that blog that's linked in the spreadsheet. But it's useless without the PD proof.)

The third story, "Not If I Know It," has proved impossible to find. If someone can find a scanned copy of The Seaside Library, no. 1511, which has the story alongside "Johnny's Christmas" by B. L. Farjeon, then we can put in that story, too.

I'm currently in the middle of a different project, so I can't do it right now, but if anyone wants to add the first story mentioned into Trollope's Short Fiction omnibus, it's there.

Thanks,

Devin

I made an account with the BPL special collections and requested a scan of "Never, Never -- Never, Never." If that doesn't work, I could potentially go in person at some point because I live in Boston and have a BPL card.

Great finds, thanks. I've updated the sheet with Catherine Carmichael.

You could always email the library to ask if they'll scan the copyright
page and the story pages. I've found libraries to be pretty helpful with
that kind of thing, especially if you explain what SE is trying to do.
