Hello,

I'm a long-time appreciator and consumer of Standard Ebooks, and I'd love to contribute.

Theodosia Ernest by Amos Cooper (often abbreviated to "A. C.") Dayton was an influential 19th-century religious novel published in the antebellum U.S. South. It was printed in two volumes, and from reading the SE manual, I think this would be a single production, split into two sections (volumes). Here are the page scans with publication dates (1866):

I discovered that there are currently no Project Gutenberg transcriptions, so since early December, I've been transcribing and proofreading the text into an HTML file, adding semantic elements as I go. I've written scripts to process my HTML into the formats desired by PG, and another script to process the HTML into SE's structure (though manual proofreading will still be necessary for SE-specific typography, semantics, and spelling...which I've been noting as I proofread).

This production ended up being a bit more complex than I anticipated (the number of emphasis italics is almost infuriating), but it's coming along. I'm finished with the transcribed PG HTML for Volume 1 and am 1/3 of the way through with Volume 2. I anticipate being finished with the PG text by the end of January and would begin the SE work soon afterward.

Since this is my first true SE project, I understand that a less-complex work from the wanted list would be desired; I'm willing to do that if required. But I have produced three three EPUBs of my own (recent copyrighted works) in the SE structure. I've followed the detailed production guide each time, and I've also read the SE Manual of Style multiple times. I'm confident I can produce an eBook that meets SE's standards.

Thank you, and please let me know what you think.

Hi Dustin, I'm on the fence about this because the book is very long,
and you're the one transcribing it. Because our process may
inadvertently introduce errors, we require a full proofread of the text;
but you've already read this very long work once, and probably don't
want to read it again. On the other hand unless this text has some odd
complications the odds of errors being introduced are low.

Why don't you post it to PG first, then we can look at it to better
understand if this is something you could do as a first book or not.

Yes, Alex, I agree. I'll reply back when the PG work is complete, and you can decide from there.

Thanks for looking.
