I saw this project once considered by someone named Flors but it got rejected, however this book should be in the public domain as it was ruled in the 1970s lawsuit Universal vs. RKO.

I was able to find the original text on Wikimedia: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:King_Kong_(1932)_(Original_Text).pdf

So should it be okay to make a ebook out of this? It’s okay if not, it is considered to be in the public domain due to copyright fuckups.

I don't think so. The legal status is too murky. If it's not on PG and
it was published after 1930, then the answer is almost always going to
be "no". It will be US-PD in two years anyway.
