I wanted to try my hand at turning text into an ebook. I picked this work because it was on the wanted list and was the first in a series.

Great, that one would be a good start.

This book has a dedication and epigraph, so you'll also add a half title
page.

It also looks like each chapter has subchapters (and in the PG
transcription the first subchapter is not a header for some reason). You
can represent those with <section epub:type="z3998:subchapter">.

Make sure to read the Standard Ebooks Manual of Style before starting,
as you won't know what to fix if you haven't read the standards. In
particular, please closely review the semantics, high level patterns,
and typography sections:
