While waiting on an answer about 1,001 Nights, I kicked off a quick compilation of Walter M. Miller Jr. sci-fi. There are currently 7 shorts on Gutenberg (no Canticle for Leibowitz unfortunately), totalling ~55k words:

Archive.org has scans for all of them, no problems there. It shouldn’t take me too long to produce and proof. I’ll think about cover art afterwards, but leaving aside their broadly reprehensible politics I’ve been fairly enamoured with the Italian futurists recently so will probably try to find something from that area.

OK, powered through this and it’s ready for review. Production notes:

  • Cover art is a Georgia O’Keeffe (not sure how this is the first use of her in our corpus) that I’ve uploaded to our db with PD proof at https://standardebooks.org/artworks/georgia-okeeffe/blue-and-green-music
  • Transcriptions were in good shape, just a couple of fixes for PG. I’ve made a few more editorial commits, mostly obvious corrections.
  • First use of the kbd and samp elements in our corpus, perhaps unsurprisingly given our more normal subject matter.
  • xml:langs for the unusual combination of la, de, sco and x-martian.
