Punctuation question

I currently have this after “se typogrify:”

The girl was silent for a moment. “Where is ‘here’?” she asked presently.

I assume that this should move the single quote after the question mark and before the double quote, with a hairspace between the two quotation marks, per SEMoS 8.7.5.2, correct?

Thus:

The girl was silent for a moment. “Where is ‘here?’<hairspace>” she asked presently.

No, 8.7.5.2 has to do with spacing between adjacent quotes. That's not
the case here. 8.7.2 says periods and commas always go within quotation
marks, but this is a question mark, not a period or comma, therefore you
should leave it as is in print.
