Great work Job!
As I look this over I see that Sinclair uses a lot of scare quotes for
words that are now common.
For example:
> The price of “gas” of course began to mount immediately.
> hand you a little slip with the amount of your “bail” noted on it,
> He liked to “josh” the waitress;
> and it was so difficult to keep the “soreheads” quiet!
> here he was with a desire to “root” for the enemies of his country
> Behind the “filling station” was a little cabinet
We should remove scare quotes like this in an editorial commit because
they look out of place to today's reader. I found these using this
regex: “[a-z ]+” However not all of the matches should have quotes
removed, it's a matter of context.
Unfortunately there are quite a lot of matches so this may take some
time to go through and make sure we don't remove scare quotes that
belong for prosodic effect.
