StataStan is the new interface to call CmdStan and get results back from inside Stata. An alpha-testing version is now online at https://github.com/stan-dev/statastan/tree/alpha-test and we want to check initially that it works all right across operating systems and versions/flavors of Stata. It's mostly been worked up in Debian and then tested in Windows V*sta, with Stata 11 and 13, IC and SE. If you're even an occasional Stata user, please try it out and give us feedback here or on GitHub or just by emailing me at rober...@live.com

There's an introductory blog post at https://robertgrantstats.wordpress.com/2015/06/26/introducing-statastan/

It seems to work under Stata 12 for Linux. The instructions might mention that if you clone the statastan repository from GitHub that you should switch to the alpha-test branch to access the .do files. Also, the initial example writes a bunch of stuff to the $cmdstan directory. I think it would be better to write the example so that it writes to the working directory, which is presumably the statastan-alpha-test directory. That way the second example should work without having to change the paths.

Thanks Ben, good point about the directory. There should be an option to get rid of all those files, and a replace option in case they already exist with the same name. I'll add to the to-do list.
