Hi all. See below. Anyone who’s interested is encouraged to play with Shiny Stan and see what it does and give your suggestions to Jonah Gabry<jsg...@columbia.edu> of the Shiny Stan team!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Professor Gelman,

Below are the instructions for getting the current draft of the SHINYstan app installed and running. Can you pass this on to the Stan development team? We'd love to get their feedback once they've played around with the app a bit. I'm not sure what the best way for them to communicate their feedback is. Maybe you can give them my email address so they can contact me directly and/or they can discuss on the Stan development google group?

Also, a lot of the issues and features we discussed when we met with the development team in person have not been implemented yet, but everything we discussed in that meeting is on our to-do list (or at least our to-try list).

Thanks and see you in class tomorrow,

Jonah

Instructions

In R console or Rstudio:
1. install.packages(“devtools”)
2. devtools::install_github(“jgabry/SHINYstan”)
3. restart R session
4. library(SHINYstan)
5. launch_shinystan_demo()
6. play

Looks awesome!

If you were looking to make it a full web interface, in which the user wrote a mode, estimated it, and analyzed the results, you could add the ACE text editor with https://github.com/trestletech/shinyAce, and use the stan-mode I wrote for ACE here https://github.com/jrnold/ace/tree/stan.

Ok, if anyone is getting an error message along the lines of

could not find function "bsModal"

try running the following line of code

devtools::install_github("ebailey78/shinyBS")

which installs the latest version of the shinyBS package (which has some add-ons for shiny). Then try relaunching the SHINYstan app. I think the problem is that the version of shinyBS on CRAN is missing the bsModal function.

If you're still getting an error message after installing shinyBS from github please let me know. Thanks!
