Although skeptical of the prohibitive power of no-hidden-variables theorems, John Bell was himself responsible for the two most important ones. I describe some recent versions of the lesser known of the two (familiar to experts as the "Kochen-Specker theorem") which have transparently simple proofs. One of the new versions can be converted without additional analysis into a powerful form of the very much better known "Bell's Theorem," thereby clarifying the conceptual link between these two results of Bell.
The JCPenney version of Less Than Zero. There's a sewer squatch with heat vision, bad fight choreography, tons of acne and a kid with a cocaine nose job that gets knuckle deep while finger banging his prefrontal lobe with some of that sweet Colombian bam bam. Everybody in this movie has their shirt tucked in. Or no shirt at all. Which I guess is meant to indicate that they're adults. Kind of an odd touch. Classy, but odd. Norman Mailer as an sov. Odd, but with class. I liked it.
Australian SOV (shot on video) creature feature featuring amateur teen actors portraying drug addled, 90's gangster teenagers and some pisspoor production values!
The plot may run thin and at times the pace of this little indie film can grow dull, but there's obviously some heart put into this project. The cinematography actually isn't too bad for such a low-budgeted endeavor. Maybe I'm just being a wee bit too generous considering the sound design and lighting effects are all pathetic (although kudos to a decent synth score occassionally being something worth jamming to in spurts).
The heat-sensing Predator (1987) stylized perspective of the monster really jazzes up the cheese factor!
A dead serious drug drama starring and made by a bunch of Australian high school kids. Sadly, not really a monster movie. It's got an amusing "look at me, I'm an adult!" feel to it, but its sombre and restrained execution keeps it way too dry and the lack of monster/gore makes me sad. The titular 'hidden' takes its role way to literally and is only ever a POV until its revealed to be a bear costume... In is the final shot! There is a brief shirtless fistfight on the side of a mountain I waited for the entire film to see.
61 minutes and 37 seconds into this 79-minute movie, the camera cuts away from an uninspired sex scene featuring all the passion of someone ordering a sandwich at Subway to find a King Kong Bundy action figure under the bed. This is one of the highlights of The Hidden.
This movie is like 90% young Australian men pushing and yelling at each other about drugs and a murder and then a thermal goggle lensed monster that is addicted to cocaine shows up but you never actually see it and then there are shirtless tussles on a beach. No this is not directed by David DeCoteau and I made it sound way more exciting than it is.

As U.S. veterans of the October 1993 \"Black Hawk Down\" battle in Somalia honor their fallen this week, others also remember it as the 20th anniversary of America's first blow from al Qaeda -- even though the U.S. didn't know it at the time.
The street battles that ensued on Oct. 3 and 4, 1993, involved U.S. Army Rangers and commandos from the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, known as \"Delta Force.\" During a successful mission to capture lieutenants of Somali warlord Mohamed Farah Aideed, hundreds of Somali gunmen engaged the U.S. teams and killed 18 soldiers, wounded 73 others and shot down two Army Black Hawk choppers.
America's subsequent hasty exit from that mission, which was originally to support United Nations humanitarian operations in Mogadishu, emboldened a little-known terrorist leader at the time named Osama bin Laden, who boasted that the U.S. superpower was weak for withdrawing after losing G.I.s in \"minor battles\" there.
What bin Laden didn't say in 1996 was that his henchmen had a hand in training and equipping the Somali militiamen who inflicted the worst day of casualties in the history of U.S. Special Operations Forces. Deadly al Qaeda attacks in the Horn of Africa against U.S. targets in 1996, 1998 and 2000 followed, leading up to 9/11.
Al Qaeda military chief Mohammed Atef, an Egyptian known as \"Abu Hafs,\" was sent by bin Laden to Mogadishu, where he offered to help Aideed fight U.S. and U.N. forces, according to FBI files. In 1998, after two U.S. embassies were struck by suicide bombers in Kenya and Tanzania, the FBI interviewed Al Qaeda operative Mohammad Sadiq Odeh in Nairobi, who admitted he was among the men al Qaeda shura council member Saif el Adel -- also a former Egyptian military officer -- had ordered to Somalia before the attack on the Rangers and Delta operators.
Coleman also interviewed an active-duty U.S. soldier, Army Sgt. Ali Mohamed, a Special Forces Middle East expert at Fort Bragg who later pled guilty to scouting the U.S. embassies for bin Laden before they were bombed, in addition to training al Qaeda fighters in Afghanistan.
\"Mohamed also advised that he was in Somalia during the United States intervention overseas and knew that bin Laden's people were responsible for the killing of United States soldiers in Somalia,\" Coleman reported back to the FBI in 1998.
\"A small group of Afghanistan [mujahideen] veterans undertook a number of skillful operations against the Americans in Somalia,\" an al Qaeda internal history published a decade ago stated. \"When the valiant soldiers of Islam came to them with the rod of Moses and the mujahideen poured their fire on them, the Americans withdrew from Somalia in an unexpected haste.\"
In April 1993, former President George Bush visited Kuwait to commemorate the victory over Iraq in the Persian Gulf War. During Bush's visit, Kuwaiti authorities arrested 17 people allegedly involved in a plot to kill Bush using a car bomb.
The United States sent various personnel to Kuwait to investigate the alleged assassination attempt. Based on interviews of the alleged coconspirators, forensic examinations of the explosive devices, and intelligence reports, the United States Government concluded that Iraq was behind the attempted car bombing. In response, on June 26, 1993, President Clinton ordered a cruise missile strike against an Iraqi Intelligence Service (IIS) building in Baghdad. A Kuwaiti court later convicted all but one of the defendants charged with crimes arising from the assassination attempt.
