I'm trying to create a web app where I can print labels directly to a label printer Zebra LP2844 using webusb. The problem I am having is that I can't find the printer under Chrome://usb-internal. The driver used in device manager is usbprint.sys. When I change it to winusb using Zadig the printer shows up but I'm not longer able to print to it. Every time I try to print it just says error-printing. As soon as I rollback the driver it prints just fine but can not be found in chrome. I tried this in win7. Any ideas?
You have a choice between two drivers, usbprint.sys and winusb.sys. If you configure Windows to use the former then you get support for the printer through the Windows native printer drivers. If you configure Windows to use the latter then you can build support for the printer in JavaScript using the WebUSB API.
Im trying to increase the print density for printing txt, but I cannot find the option to do that. Ive checked my ink cartridge and theres plenty of ink. Can someone tell me how I can get to advance settings either in System Preferences or the print dialog bow, where hopefully there will be an option to do that, thanks.
If by print density, you mean the ability to darken the printed text, then that is a function of your printer's administrative settings and not controlled by macOS System Preferences. Your printer's driver may, or may not, expose a means to darken text, or switch off toner saver, via the macOS print panel.
The printer used to work on this computer but my friend took the printer over to his girlfriend's house when her printer didn't work. Now the printer is back home on original computer. However the Mac doesn't see the printer when I try to add it from MacOS.
Unfortunately when he got back home, he for some reason tried to reinstall the print drivers and messed things up. I am his tech support guy but I am supporting this remotely using TeamViewer. Since then he has also accidentally upgraded to MacOS Monterey.
I have Reset the Printing System and deleted the drivers he messed up and reinstalled Apple's version of the HP Printer Drivers from: =en_US. These drivers were just updated yesterday for MacOS 12.0.1 Monterey. The Mac still can't see the USB connected printer.
We have tested different USB ports but he didn't have another USB printer cable or another printer to test with. Using Wireless isn't an option in his case, so the HP Smart app didn't find the printer either.
Once completing the installation open System Preferences Unfortunately the printer still couldn't be found in Printers & Scanners. I don't have access to the printer as my friend is on the other side of the United States from me. I suspect something wrong with the printer even though it used to work. He is going to take the printer his local Mac repair shop and see if it works there.
