Iam currently having an issue getting the audio to work on this Dell Optiplex 3020 Desktop machine. We do not have a sound card installed and when you mouse over the audio icon it says No Audio Output Device is Installed. So my natural instinct was a driver issue so I went to the dell site and got the Realtek HD Audio driver that was assigned to the service tag and attempted to reinstall. I have now done that process twice and i still cannot see anything there as well as no sound device inside Device Manager. Thank you all for your time.
Also check to see if your monitor you are installing is a DVI then if you go to device manager and look under sound you will see the Realtek Audio device along with the DVI monitor sound. Disable the monitor sound and it defaults back to the only audio device left, the pc speaker.
I'm in a interesting predicament, a few years back my hard drive in my laptop up and quit on me, so I had to replace it and do a clean install of windows. I thought I had installed all the drivers, I thought wrong.
It seems I missed the HDMI audio driver for my machine, and much to my chagrin, it seems neither the manufacturer of the laptop (samsung) or the manufacturers of the graphics hardware (Nvidia and Intel, it's a optimus machine,) seem to be able to provide the drivers for the HDMI audio.
