Irecently obtained the Hubitat hub and am including some previously installed devices. When I went to include my Honeywell UltraPro light switch it defaulted to "Jasco Z-Wave Dual Outlet". I changed the "Type" to Generic Z-wave Switch and now I have 2 switches listed for it. Is there a better "Type" to allow this to function more appropriately?
I suspect this should probably be either the GE Enbrighten Zwave Switch or Generic Zwave Smart Switch. If incorrect, you may be missing features like double taps, or the dashboard may not reflect the correct status of the switch.
Thanks for getting back to me on this issue. I did not realize that I had to hit the configure button after making any changes to the device configuration, having done this now I don't see any difference to the display. It does show up as a "child" device with "switch 1" and "switch 2" listed under it. I'm not 100% sure what a "child" device is but I assume it's like an add-on switch. This is a single pole light so that's the confusing part of the configuration. I'm transitioning from a smartthings hub to the hubitat so am still learning how to use it but I've not seen this previously. I've looked all through the hubitat community but can't seem to find a repository of JasonJoel's device drivers. Do you happen to know where they can be located or is just hit or miss on the Github community page? Thanks again.
This is probably just an artifact of the double switch driver. To remove child devices, switch to the "Device" driver, and Save Device. There should be a button to delete child devices. Once you do that, switch back to the correct driver, and save again. Do the configure, and you should be all set.
For those that desire the best, you've arrived. From the sleek full color LED Bar, to the glossy finish of the switch, to the satisfying click of the paddle, enjoy Z-Wave 800's first and only premium light switch.
Crafted with the latest Z-Wave chips, our Red Series products offer unmatched speed via Z-Wave Associations, unmatched reliability of Z-Wave 800 Series technology, and unmatched features found only on Inovelli switches.
Inovelli is still IMHO the best. The 2-1 switch is really pretty awesome. Can do leading edge or trailing edge dimming depending on how it's wired. VERY tweakable and flexible with association groups for even multi taps. Definitely recommended, and Inovelli's managed to keep them in stock now.
We take a different approach to building products. We bring them to life with the help of 1,000's of community members and passionate beta testers. Firmware is always public and improved upon allowing your switch to be future-proof.
This switch is meant for lighting purposes only and cannot be used to control outlets, fans, or any other inductive/motorized loads. If you want an on/off switch, please check out our Blue Series On/Off Switch (w/Temperature and Humidity Sensing) and if you want a speed control switch for a ceiling fan, please check out our Blue Series Fan Switch.
My initial understanding is that I can replace a single pole switch with something like the GE Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control On/Off Switch, if I want it to be able to dim the lights I need one that supporting dimming.
If I have a 3/4 way lighting setup I need to get a zwave/wireless switch that is capable of supporting 3/4 way. However does this mean I can just replace one of the existing switches with on zwave switch? Is this a use case for the add on switches? What use cases do the add on zwave light switches apply to?
Transform any home into a smart home with the GE Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control Add-On Paddle Switch. The GE Z-Wave Wireless Lighting Control Paddle Switch replaces your current switch, uses existing wiring and provides your home with ultimate...
Consequently, you usually have to replace all the switches. And because different models use somewhat different methods to communicate between the switches, you have to replace all the switches with ones specifically designed to work together.
In particular, note that some brands, such as Linear/GoControl, include a Z wave radio in their auxiliary switches. These still are not load control switches, but because the auxiliary can talk directly to the hub, it can be used in some situations without a master, such as when you want the dummy switch to control a smart lightbulb. Even so, these auxiliary switches cannot control the current to a light fixture. But they do show up on your things list.
.3. Is it safe to assume, in a retrofit scenario (replacing hardwired mechanical 3 way switches), that the existing traveler wire is appropriate to connect to the replacement ZWave Addon switch Traveler terminal? I know there are many 3-way mechanical switch scenarios, depending on where the fixture is, the Line Power, each switch, etc.
In addition, association only works between 2 zwave devices, only works if the device is specifically designed to be able to use Association for control of another device (and many are not), and only works if the two devices are pretty close together.
There are times when zwave association is useful, especially if you need really quick response, but most of the time if you are using SmartThings the benefits of creating your virtual three-way using the hub as a middleman will outweigh the benefits of direct association.
By one of your switch, main hot/black wire from electrical panel comes in (should be connected to black screw on that switch). 2 wires (travelrs) go to the other switch and then the black screw terminal connects to the light (load).
This can only work IF you have neutral wire at every switch location. The way it works is using one of the travelers to extend light/load to the smart switch (or extend hot to the light/load location, depends where you install the smart switch), then use the other traveler to connect to basic 3 way or regular switch + neutral. You can not dim from secondary location and there is no option to go full brightness when turned on from secondary location.
I got one to test and I am only not happy with lack of ramp time control, found them a bit slow to turn on/off. It would be useful if it could go optional full power (for the dimmer) when secondary switch is flipped on. The other requirement is minimum load - 15watt for the switch (ZEN21 V2) and 20watt for the dimmer (ZEN22 V2)
I replaced a bad Zwave light switch in my shed. I was able to remove the bad one and add the replacement in the 2GIG control panel. It is available in the CP and I am able to turn it off and on. However, it has still not shown up on
ALARM.COM I looked thru the forums and one suggestion was to run a cellular test. I did that (12 hrs ago) but it is still not showing up, Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
Delete that Z-wave device from the panel.
Reboot the alarm panel (Settings > Advanced Settings > Reboot)
Bring the panel to within 6-10 feet of the switch and relearn the switch.
Move everything back to permanent spots and run a network rediscovery.
Hey Jason. Followed instructions but still no luck. I then took one from house to shed, installed it and renamed. I then took the one that was in shed, used it to replace one in house, removed and readded to network. All is now working. Thx for the help I do appreciate it.

I've had my ISY 994i Pro for a few years, running exclusively Insteon after giving up on X10 awhile back. Recently after a go round with my PLM, I decided I needed to move towards an alternative to Insteon so acquired a ZWave dongle for my ISY, and a couple of ZWave switches (GE Enbrighten) I am now trying to add a new zwave on/off switch (with additional add-on switch) to an existing scene:
I've tried adding all six Zwave nodes to the scene (Switch On/Off, Basic Scene Ctl 1/2, Multilevel switch 2/3, and Scene button 1/2 No combination of these nodes in the scene seems to work to turn on the Z Wave Switch, only the Insteon switch responds to the Insteon PIR.
I am using Admin Console, and ISY version 5.3.4, Zwave version 6.82.01 , just upgraded ISY firmware in order to add ZWave. I had already moved my ISY closer to devices with extension cords/ethernet cables, but may try moving even closer (line of sight). Thanks for the on/off switch advice. Will stop trying with all the other stuff.
Z-wave needs a mesh of devices.. and the ISY's transmitter doesn't reach far, the nearest device will repeat and will reach further. You may also discover that the ISY standing on it side edge may have better reach.
Enbrighten switch and Add-on switch work fine physically The main enbrighten switch is about 50 feet walking from ISY, but around some corners, so 25 feet direct with two walls between. (I realize not ideal)
Yes, the switch (all 6 "nodes) added fine in Admin Console as you'll see below. Some initial difficulty seeing these switches in Admin Console was overcome by firmware upgrade, exclude/include actions, and moving ISY higher in my equipment room, and i did just try turning in on it side too. (yesterday I actually had it running down the hall with wires with no improvement to this scene issue)
