STANDING UP FOR
WIND TURBINES IN STAFFORD
How can we change attitudes to wind energy in our Borough?
We have at least two very live issues to discuss:
Knightly Hall Farm
The Planning
Committee of Stafford Borough Council recently rejected an
application to install 3 wind turbines at Knightly Hall
Farm. Councillors and officers never mentioned climate
change once.
Geoff White, who attended the meeting, says: ‘The rejection of the Application for planning permission had disappointingly not explored the wider issues of climate change at the Planning Committee meeting. Has there been proper application of the rules for debate and representation at these meetings? What is necessary to enable IPCC and like reports to be considered with the urgency they need? Are there any improvements relevant to the scheme of the developer REG which would have ameliorated the Application? ‘
Rob Hine points out that the need to consider wider issues about climate change is actually ‘part of planning policy, as embodied in the current National Planning Policy Framework (attached)’.
Upper Hanyard Farm
Rob Hine has also
written to say: ‘I was phoned by the developer who wants to
install a second turbine near the one already operating at
Upper Hanyards Farm, near Tixall. He is now urging us to
make submissions in support of this!! I have compiled a
short 'briefing' (attached). I have visited the site and can
say that the one in operation since last autumn is a very
up-to-date design, looks fine, and is really quiet in
operation. Please help Stafford get its second wind
turbine!! PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ANYONE ELSE WHO MIGHT BE
INTERESTED!!’
