I purchased the Online Deluxe Edition from Costco in Halifax, NS. The program is not accepting my activation code. The code is entered correctly and I've tried it many times. No one else has used the code. How do I fix this?

Yes, I've purchased the Deluxe Online Edition and I'm using the card inside the box, with the Activation Code number on it. I'm entering the code correctly. No one else has used the code. I'm the only user.

I've called twice already. Its an automated system, where you say your issue and they respond via email or text message. I keep getting the same response, that I'm probably entering the code incorrectly. Its very frustrating.

That didn't work. I tried using the phone code, to bypass the automated message, but that didn't work. I still ended up with the autobot and received the same message via email. Any recommendations on why the code isn't working? When I enter the correct activation code, it says "Something's not right, try re-entering your code". The code is entered correctly.

Hi, I had installed my TT Premier 2020 CD on my PC and this laptop. I had entered everything into the PC except for a K1 which we don't receive until the end of March and copied it to the laptop. Last week, I had to turn my laptop over to our IT fellow. He ended up having to make a whole new Win 10 installation and because of a bad SSD was not able to save anything but data files. In the mean time we have sold our house and movers are moving us into a rental while a new house is being built. Problem is I can't find my CD box which Amazon records show as delivered Dec 29. Things have been pretty stressful with our selling , buying and moving. Right now, our plans are to put the PC into storage so I need to activate the laptop. I've used Turbo Tax for around 30 years now and usually download it. Help with a license code would sure be appreciated.

I'm not sure how this system works. I thought MichelleLO earned the "Mark as Best Answer", but I can't figure out whether she oversees this operation or she wrote the reply. Regardless, tomorrow morning I will attempt to follow her instructions. I feel like "Ned in the First Reader" for most likely picking it up with a pile of trash. @mbnicholson Since you purchased the CD from Amazon, and you no longer have the box, you will need to contact our customer support team because your license code is printed on the front of the insert in your box. Since this is a public internet forum, we do not have access to that information, but our customer support agents will be happy to assist you.

I have had no luck trying to contact the customer support team. It seems I just keep coming back to the Community. Is there any chance you might be able to provide me with a link to the Customer Support Team? Thank you, Mike

Another pleasant nuance to the act of tax preparation. After updating to a new computer due to unsupported software, the last ten years of Turbotax transferred over but requested the original license code to activate. Due to all of these being purchased as CD's, which are all in a landfill somewhere, no license code is available. Turbotax's answer to this is, too bad, so sad. Happy to be a loyal Turbotax user.

I had a similar situation just happen where I went to open up an existing return I had been working and it said I needed to enter the 16 character license. Up until now it just opened fine. Like you, I threw out the box last week because I got tired of the disk sitting on my desk; so no license code. I called the help line and was on hold and then got a person who said they could see I had purchased it and would refund me the amount and I could go and re-purchase and download. I would get a new application and license. I asked if it would load my data file and he couldn't guarantee it.

While online I logged into my Intuit account and started poking around. I clicked on "Products and Billing". I saw Your Products and the version I had purchased from Costco. So I clicked on it and then scrolled down to "Licenses and Downloads". It had my license code that I copied and pasted into my TurboTax space that was looking for it and it opened up.

Evidently not. Having purchased my TT from Costco, Intuit claims they don't know my activation code (untrue) and that I'd have to get it from Costco. Costco obviously say they purposely dont have that info to avoid potential employee theft.

I have read the majority of support comments regarding the purchase of Turbotax through a vendor like Costco, Amazon, Target, BestBuy, etc. All I want to do is add my Turbotax download license number that I received from an outside vendor to my account (Costco this year, but previous years were Target and Amazon and have had the same issue). Here are the steps I take:

I attempted to resolve this through the support group. The first person was telling me things like I needed to be looking at my account through Google, not Safari or any other browser. He also said I couldn't use my brand new MAC with an M1 processor that I bought simply because my older Mac could not upgrade to the Catalina operating system that is required for 2021 Turbotax to work. The second time I called hoping to get a more knowledgeable person, I was told that my license code was for a 2020 product, not 2021, which was utter nonsense since I already downloaded the product and knew it was the 2021 version. In both cases, I was told to return the product to the vendor for a refund, and repurchase from Turbotax directly at almost double the price I paid. In past years, the support rep manually added my code so it showed in my account. This year I was told that their software no longer will allow them to do that.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to show my TurboTax purchase from an authorized retailer in my account? The reason this is important is so that I can go back in future years to re-download the product in the event an amendment is necessary.

Unrelated to my question is that I find it interesting that there is so much chatter in the support groups about how Turbotax works differently between the online and downloaded versions, not allowing imports and such, and how purchasing from an authorized vendor versus Turbotax direct, whether by CD, download or online, can cause difficulties. Bottom line is that the product should work seamlessly no matter how you purchase it from year to year, or what installation version you buy.

MichelleLO, I have read those links multiple times. It would be helpful if you could clarify where the "activation screen" is from the sentence, "To download TurboTax with the license code, enter your activation number in the License code box on the activation screen and select Continue to complete installation." In my comments, I was very detailed in listing the only place I found to input the license code, which does not work.

Additionally, twice I have also reached out to TurboTax representatives and their answers were detailed in my comments. Please read the entire set of comments before answering with general responses and insufficient information.

Cass0317, Again, I ask that the "expert" responders read my entire post before replying with information that does not apply to the question. I specifically wrote, "Now, I realize that I purchased an online download, not a CD version, but what difference should it make if I want to have my purchase listed in my account? " Again, I don't see anywhere to input my online code to apply my purchase to my account. Anyone?

CarissaM, When you purchase the software for download from any outside vendor, they give you and ESD Order number, the vendor PO number, and a "key" which for all intent looks like the License number. Again, I am not having trouble downloading the product which is the link you sent. I want to show that I purchased TurboTax in my account so that in the future I will have access to the software in the event of an audit where I would need to reaccess the software.

If you downloaded your TurboTax software, that software download will remain in your account as long as you access it using the same User ID and password. You can find instructions for accessing your past downloads within the following help article.

MichelleLO, again...the downloads page will NOT accept the license code I was given when I bought the product from an outside vendor. The page even states that it is for the CD download version. I have an online download license. I was only able to downloaded TurboTax using a link provided by the vendor, not through Turbotax. All I want to do is add the license code to my account.

CarissaM, I have been directed to that same page more than once. Do any of the "TurboTax Specialists" have a contact with one of the software developers to let them know there is a problem in their application? I am not the only person who is having this issue with TurboTax products purchased from verified vendors. Now that tax season is over, maybe someone will have more time to investigate the issue?

Hi I have the key code attached and from reading fourm tech support can add a dl on my account?this is my key code it works cause the stupied message read "error code key invalid " when i enter random code key" and read opps we ran into a snag entering data!
