Mynew comp only has 460gb of space on it (because it's an SSD) I want to install a second hardrive for space reasons but I want to be able to run the sims on the ssd. It takes me forever to download games and I haven't even finished yet so hopefully I don't have to reinstall/redownload it again...
@Winchestercester Yes, you can move your user data, including saves and mods, to a different hard drive. There are extra steps involved though, depending on what you're moving and what you'd like to keep where it is. When you get your second hard drive, please explain which files you want on that hard drive, and which you'd like to keep on the SSD, and I'll describe how to move what you want.
If you want to keep Documents overall on C but move the Sims 4 folder to D, you can do that as well. It's a bit more complicated but should work as well. Be sure to back up your data before you try this though, in case something gets deleted. This guide is for storing the user data folder on an external drive, but it also works on an internal one.
So what is the difference between a Mod and Custom Content or CC? Well, it is quite simple, a Mod changes or adds gameplay or the game framework, whereas CC adds content elements to the game. So for example; clothing, makeup, hair, furniture, flooring, and wallpaper are all examples of CC. Downloadable lighting, traits, interactive items, presets, and added actions are considered Mods.
There are a ton of reasons why I use Mods and CC in my Sims 4 game. Most of my reasons are to add things or change things visually. These are my top five reasons why I use Mods. I rarely play out of CAS but when I do I definitely use mods and CC to do so. For me personally, I could maybe play without mods but definitely not CC. Wait no. Not at all I need pose player and columns.
What better way to constantly freshen up your game than adding new CC every week. Look the Sims 4 game is eight years old and sure there are loads of packs and kits, but sometimes things get a little stale. Lots of CC creators regularly publish new content! So always watch your favorite CC Artists so that you know exactly when something new is released.
For those of us Simmers that enjoy Sim modeling and screenshot editing, there are a few visual elements that make it a bit harder for in-game screenshots. But fortunately, you can replace that Create a Sim Background and even get rid of the dreaded blue lighting all with mods. If you want to get really crazy you can even go down the Reshade route and totally change how your game looks visually.
There are some Simmers that will not use mods ever, meaning they only use what is developed by EA. There are several reasons other than personal preference for this; fear of viruses and malware, computer limitations, and mod installation difficulties. Sometimes if Simmers have a bad experience with CC or mods messing up their game it is just easier not to reinstall mods and CC. This is why it is VERY important to be careful where you get your Mods and CC. You do not want broken mods or CC as it can be quite the battle to get things fixed.
For those of us who love Simstagram, Sim modeling, creating stories, or editing images Pose Player is a Vital mod. Why wait to try to take 50 different screenshots when you can freeze a Sim in the desired pose, snap the photo, and be done! Pose Player and poses save so much time and make images look so much better.
I love to make my Sims as unique as possible! One of the ways I have found to do this is by using CAS preset Mods. This gives me a great variety to start with and I can mix and match creators making super unique Sims!
Following the period of rest, your Sim and other Sims around them will have additional dialogue and action options based on that dream and their new feelings, including asking questions about their dream and researching what they might mean.
Made by Sacrificial mods, the zombie apocalypse mod is heavily inspired by Resident Evil, and can see your Sims become terrified or zombified. Trigger a zombie apocalypse with an incredibly cool story mechanic, then decide whether you want to survive or infect.
RoBurky returns with another mod that changes how your sim reacts to life events and personal experiences in the game. The Meaningful Stories mod ensures that your sim expresses their emotions to the people who matter or are important to them and will affect how those memories stay with them throughout their life.
For mod fans who want to get into the nitty-gritty details of playing The Sims, then check out the MC Command Center mega-mod by Deaderpool. This mod is a collection of smaller mods that give you the power to make small adjustments and tweaks to how sims live their lives.
Wonderful Whims is the tamer version of Wicked Whims. Wicked Whims adds a lot of very adult content to your sims game, and Wonderful Whims allows you to keep it PG-13. It adds in attraction preferences, new personality archetypes, a menstrual cycle, birth control, condoms, and STDs.
These attraction preferences are automatically assigned, but you can alter them if you want to. Maybe you imagine your sim as bisexual, but the game has assigned them as straight. You can easily go in and change their gender preferences.
A simple, but incredibly useful mod. This mod, as the title states, allows you to cheat the entire sims UI system. Most of the time I only use it to quickly cheat the needs of my sims, but there are a ton of other uses.
Unfortunately, the sims team has basically given up on updating the whim system. I find it super weird to let an essential element of your original game fall to the wayside, but luckily there is a fix by an incredible modder!
Again, this is a big mod with a lot to it, so I highly recommend that you check out the download page to read everything that comes along with this mod. Or just install it and I discover everything for yourself along the way. (I prefer that option!)
Something I find really cool about this mod is that it features an in-game tutorial. So if you want to go ahead and download it without reading or watching anything about it, you can do that and the mod itself will show you what it does.
This mod is just an aspiration that will be added to your game, but I find it to be essential. I love for my sims to be overachievers and now they can get a head start right from childhood.
At some point, the medical examiner will call and allow you to make arrangements for either a burial or a cremation. If you complete this process properly, your sim will get peaceful closure, but if not, they will be stuck with unending grief. Wow!
The mod adds government services to the sims. This includes a custom child support and alimony system. Now if your sims are in a dire situation, you can apply for benefits to help them out. I absolutely love the attention to detail that was put into this mod. For example, if your sim remarries, your alimony is canceled.
There are other mods in this list that add miscarriage to your game, but this is the one that I find adds the most depth to the experience of having a miscarriage. It comes with the chance of death and infertility after a miscarriage. There are new buffs. And you can even add the unborn baby to the family tree. I find it super sweet that the baby will forever be remembered as a part of the family.
This mod eliminates that problem by keeping all of the celebrities in Del Sol Valley, making the sims celebrity experience much more realistic. Now, going to Del Sol Valley is an exciting tourist destination where you may see a celebrity, much like Los Angeles.
I wrote an entire post on this mod and its features, (The Sims 4 Playable Pets Mod: Controllable Pets Mod Download & Review) so be sure to check out that post for ALL the details on how this mod works.
This pick actually makes the pie menu for various objects way better. Objects like your sim, computer, TV, stereo, fridge, stove, mirror etc. Now you can have way easier menus to navigate, which saves tons of time and headaches. Honestly, these pie menu mods are a LIFESAVER!
I love how all americans are shocked about the uni costs in the game. I'm glad I live in Germany, where University costs are low. I honestly won't ever get the mod with the uni costs, just because they are realistic for me and I still hate 'em! XD

Private Practice inserts an almost dizzying amount of new content into the game, including allergies, diseases, healthcare clinics, a whole revised health system, the ability to make appointments and have insurance to foot the bill.
If you've ever been playing Sims and wished the game was just a tad bit more like Resident Evil, well your wish has been granted - now you can see how your own custom-built community would react to a zombie outbreak.
Triggering the apocalypse gives you the choice of either becoming a heroic last survivor or the real villain as you spread the virus - tough only by getting infected do you get the chance to become a playable zombie...
You're a wizard, Harry! Although The Sims 4 developers have gradually added more fantastical content over the years (see: the recent Sims 4 Werewolves pack), fans have been making their own magical experiences with mods for ages at this stage.
One of the best magical mods for The Sims 4 is called Become a Sorcerer, and it comes to us from a creator named Triplis. The mod has been worked on for quite some time, with the current version being the fourth major iteration of the mod.
With this mod installed, your Sim will become infused with magic after they investigate a suspicious lump of clay. From there, you'll be able to specialise in different rituals and unlock an array of spells. You can choose to specialise in dark magic or the light kind, and there are loads of different ways you can tailor your spell-binding experience to each different Sim.
