Dear Parishioners,

It is with great sorrow that we write to inform you of the falling asleep of Rev. Fr. Theodore Sideris.  Father Theodore served our parish of St Nicholas for 18 years, from 1971-1989.  The passing of a clergyman is a loss for the Orthodox Church as a whole, especially those whom he served in his years of ministry.  We send our love and condolences to his family, and thank him for his years of pastoral guidance here at St Nicholas.

The funeral service will be celebrated on 25th day of August 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 250 Gallows Hill Road, Westfield, NJ 07090. Burial will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on 24th day of August 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Obituary:
Rev. Fr. Theodore Sideris passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township. He was 86 years old. 

Born in Faraklo, Laconia, Greece on December 8, 1935 to the late Angela and Antonios Sideris, he has resided in Colonia since 2006.

Fr. Sideris was ordained into the priesthood of the Greek Orthodox Church of America in 1967, after completing the theological seminary of the University of Athens, Greece. His assignments included Holy Trinity Church, Ambridge, PA 1967-1971, St Nicholas Church, Bethlehem, PA 1971-1989, Holy Trinity Church, 1989-1992 Egg Harbor Township, NJ, St Constantine and Helen Church, West Nyack, NY 1992-2006. He retired in 2006.

Fr. Sideris immigrated to the United States in 1949 when his father returned to Greece to re-unite with his wife and child following a 12-year separation due to WWII and the subsequent Greek civil war. Following graduation from Woodbridge High School, Woodbridge, NJ, Fr. Sideris served in Korea with U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and was honorably discharged.

In addition to his parents, Father Sideris was predeceased by his wife, Anna Stellakis Sideris, in 2020. They had married in 1959 in Anna’s village of Lira, Laconia, Greece.

Surviving are his son Anthony Sideris along with his children (grandchildren) Michael Theodore Sideris and Stefany Ann Sideris of Seattle, WA, his son Leonidas Sideris with his wife Elizabeth and son (grandchild) Alexander Theodore Sideris of Doylestown, PA and his daughter Angelique Sideris of Athens, Greece.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), Woodbridge.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Westfield (holytrinitywestfield.org) or World Vision Christian Charity (www.worldvision.org) in Fr. Sideris’ memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
