Passing of Presv. Julia Romanchak - Funeral at St. Tikhon's Monastery on Tuesday Jan 20th.

Dear Parishioners,

It is with great sorrow that we write to inform you of the falling asleep of Presv. Julia Romanchak.  She was 100 years old, and while not physically present at our parish for the past several years, was a profoundly loving presence and spiritual rock for many of our parishioners over the past several decades.  We remember her, and her husband Fr. Michael, with great love and fondness, having welcomed them to our parish in their retirement.

A visitation will be held at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 980 Bridle Path Rd., Bethlehem, Pa. 18017 on Monday January 19, 2026 from 5PM to 7PM followed by a Panakhida Service by Fr. Nikolai Breckenridge.

The Funeral will be on Tuesday January 20, 2026 at 10:30AM at St. Tikhon’s Monastery, 175 St. Tikhon’s Road, Waymart, Pa. 18472. Burial will follow in St. Tikhon’s Cemetery in Waymart, Pa. Funeral arrangements by the Herron Funeral Home

Obituary:

Matushka Julia K. Romanchak, 100, passed away in the arms of our Lord on January 11, 2026 and has taken her place among the angels. May God bless her and grant her memory eternal. Predeceased in 2012 by her husband, V. Rev. Michael, of 60 years, Julia is survived by her son, Sergius and his wife, Louise, grandsons, Heirdeacon Marc, Eli and his wife, Salome, and great grandsons, Geele and Ayrick, who were the very twinkles in her eye. She is also survived by her daughter, Paula, and granddaughter and namesake, Arianna Julia Cagli.
