I'm on the LinkedIn Vincent's group and just saw this. Vincent's is ranked 14th in India; looks like it's the only one in Pune on the list

Miss Bella Fernandes was a teacher at St.Vincent's Primary till her retirement in the year 2000.
Since her retirement from school, she took up work at Rosary School Camp.
Over the past many years, she has been suffering with arthritis, yet she continues to serve even after having crossed the age of 70.
(Her birthday is on 23rd October)
Even when ill, she makes the best effort not to "bunk" school.
I understand that she doesn't want to let the school and the children down, besides her need of the income to cover her medical expenses.
But her dedication to her teaching profession, causes her to neglect her own health.
In recent weeks she had a cold, which due to neglect, developed into a lung congestion and infection.
In her feeble condition, she yet tried not to miss school, despite strong protests from her 3 sisters.
On Sun, 29th Sept night, she had to be shifted to the I.C.U in a hospital, struggling in a severe breathless condition.
Due to the help & support of her 3 sisters & their families, and due to the efforts of some ex-Vincentian doctors, her condition has stabilized in the early hours of this morning.
Due keep her in your prayers for her speedy recovery.
Special note is made of Ajay Jain, her student of the 1989 (10th Std) Batch, who despite his 90 yr old grandmother being in another hospital with fractured leg, made time late in the night, to visit the hospital and help Miss Bella’s sisters with the hospital admission process .

I called my parents in India this morning. I do this almost every day. But I realized that today (Oct/2) is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and his 144th birth anniversary. Then, during my morning jog, in the neighborhood park, on this lovely autumn day in Connecticut, a train of thoughts rushed through my mind.
In addition to my parents and grandfather, growing up as a young boy and attending the St. Vincent’s School in Pune, India, I was influenced by two centenarians who recently celebrated their centennial birth anniversary: Rev. Fr. Rudolf Schoch (100 years) and the other Mahatma Gandhi [144 (12 * 12) years – “100” in the Duodecimal (base 12) number system].
Fr. Schoch was a great admirer of Gandhi. I have fond memories of listening to him teach classes on Gandhian thought and values. He was our principal at St. Vincent’s when I first entered St. Vincent’s in Grade 1. Then he returned as principal again when I was in Grade 10 (1974). I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to learn about Gandhi from Fr. Schoch. I paid close attention to his classes despite my singular fascination, those days, with math – even at the risk of failing at other subjects. Today, I am glad to have listened and learned from Fr. Schoch. He and his many Jesuit contemporaries built the strong educational system (schools and colleges) in India. Their efforts continue to make our world a better place.
So, let’s celebrate the centennial birthdays (in two different number systems) of two great men who each toiled to uplift mankind – one very personal to me – a Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to educate the poor and needy “making gentlemen out of boys” and the other a freedom fighter and an apostle of non-violence “shining light on a nation”. Yes – the intense focus of modern educators these days is on numbers and letters (reading, writing and arithmetic) and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). But when the cloud clears, the enduring lesson from these two centenarians is pure and simple: focus on building enduring values.

Today I had met Ms. Coutino our History teacher near our school. Very sad when she mentioned that she will be retiring in a couple of months time after a meritorous service of 35 years plus. As far as I remember she was the only teacher still remaining from the team that taught us. The last mohican as what they say.
What is the retirement age at St Vincents ?
