I received Coach Tybor's latest email giving an update on alumni and staff at Pius.  I was surprised and saddened to read that Jackie Sherwood has recently undergone surgery to remove a brain tumor.  Does anyone have an update on how she is doing?

I took out all the email addresses coach sent his email, as it would be overwhelming for those of you who read your email on your cell phone.  If anyone wants the list, just let me know.

Thank you!

Subject: happy helpers February

Whoa- The weather was wicked this morning.  Well only 10 more months and we may have all of this political stuff off the tubes and radio, but don’t bet on it.  I get a chuckle when one politician calls his opponent a liar.  Then the other responds that his opponent is a liar.  You know what – they’re both telling the truth.

Saturday – tomorrow, if anyone knows Evelyn Olguin (She’s been working at SPX for over 20 plus years – she has a son, Jeremy,  who graduated back in 1993.  He had a stroke and there is a fundraiser for him from 4 pm to 7 pm at The School of Dreams – located at 1800 Main St.  #250  in Los Lunas.  The cost for the meal is $10. A person – children 8 and under are free.  Hopefully some of you can help out.

In regard to Nathan Barkocy it was good to hear this morning that they took the breathing tube out of his mouth; he’s breathing on his own.   He’s still pretty much unconscious but is improving daily.  We hosted the Academy last night in basketball.   The fans on both sides were very positive in helping us remember Nathan, by wearing the color orange and behaving pretty good.  The gym is always  well packed when we play one another.  (That’s not news.)

Prayer wheels are turning for a number of people.  Jackie Sherwood (1970’student) had a brain tumor operation and things are not perfect in her struggle….  My sister-in-law Alice,  has cancer and begins treatment today at the U. of Michigan.   The doctors say she will be lucky to survive for another two years.  She and my brother have a great Faith and are concerned, but she says that “whenever its’ time”, it’s okay.  They have 7 children and oodles of grandkids.

Kevin Morratto (maybe misspelled) said he’ll be in town this week. His sister,  Mitzy’s husband, is having an operation and Kevins’ here to help out anyway that  he can.

Saw Kent Coffee (1982) last week, when his La Cueva Bears came into our gym and took us out. He’s an assistant coach there.  Another 1982 grad Anthony Armijo was found to be disabled and surely he could use some special petitions.  I called Jim Civerolo a couple of times but he’s was sick, and I spoke to his machine a couple of times.

Visited with Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin last Sunday.  She’s pretty much bed ridden, though she’s in the living room making the most of it.  Both of their ages are over 177 years.

Sunday shouldn’t be a Super Bore – but it looks like the Broncos will have to play out of their heads to win this one.

I’m going to try and forward a bit of history that came in from Michael Olivas.  It’s a story from Michael Goodroe.   Both of these guys graduated in 1968.  Goodroe was an excellent guitarist.   After graduating  he played with the” Motels”   (8 track stuff) which anyone who graduated after the mid-1980’s probably never heard of.  I like them, they were good.   Anyway I found the history fascinating.

We are all her to help each other.  There is nobody on this planet that doesn’t need a prayer – so when you can take a few minutes each day ask the Lord to Bless All of the Happy Helpers;  especially those who have asked us to be linked with their personal needs.  You all, as a groups,  get heavenly thoughts for Blessings more than a couple of times each day .  And there are a few more in the middle of the night.  May God Bless and Care for all of you and your family.

Coach Ron Tybor
