Hi everyone, it's August already. Whoa.

For this month's Systems Thinking Ontario session we'll be back to seeing and discussing some system maps. We'll have groups from the Strategic Foresight and Innovation program share their wonderful Map the System  maps.

Presentation #1 [system map & report] Fragmented Care
Title: Fragmented Care: Mapping the disconnect across Canada’s health and social service systems

Authors: Alba Au, Alison Clarke, Aileen Nandy, Irena Pozgaj-Jones, Lesley Jeannotte

For Map the System, we looked at how the myth of optimization drives fragmentation within our health and social services, undermining their effectiveness by drawing focus to short-term, measurable KPIs and driving the politicization of funding.

Presentation #2 [system map & report]: Nourishing the North
Title: Nourishing the North

Authors: Kylie Copeland, Kate Snack, Jackie Zsabo

Food insecurity among Inuit children is not the result of isolated failures, but the outcome of a system structured around the wrong centre of gravity. Despite significant financial investment, the current food system in Northern Canada continues to reproduce scarcity rather than alleviate it. At its core, the system prioritizes distribution efficiency and southern-defined priorities over child wellbeing, cultural continuity, and community control.
