FYI, the International Council on Systems Engineering has started a series of conversations on Zoom.  These are NOT recorded, and are focused on making sense.  There are three sections, at different times, for different parts of the world.

I dropped into the first Friday meeting.  There is a range of understanding of systems.  (I was entertained by an Italian and an Indian debating the meaning of emergence with an American).

In full disclosure, I was officer of the International Society for the Systems Sciences who wrote the Memorandum of Understanding with INCOSE, back in 2010.  The advantage of INCOSE is that its members are fully-funded by their organizations (e.g. aerospace, military).

INCOSE Community Offerings – Systems Exchange Café

The global pandemic has shifted the way we engage and collaborate, and INCOSE is working to create beneficial programs to help the systems engineering community network and grow during this difficult time. To that end, INCOSE has established publicly available Virtual Community Offerings.

The next Community Offering is the Systems Exchange Café. The meetings are devoted to discussing topics of interest openly, similar to a book or journal club.

Discussions may focus on newsworthy articles, book or paper reviews, or a specific problem. The team is scheduling the cafés now; plans will include several cafés scheduled to accommodate local interests and time zones. You can learn more and, if interested in attending, register here.

Once you register you will be sent invites to the specific café (recurring meetings) which will be run as Zoom meetings. At each meeting the topic for discussion at the next meeting will be decided, and published on the webpage for the relevant café. The details of the topic for the first discussion are on the website.

We hope you find these café discussions interesting and relevant.

This is in addition to the first initiative, which is the Webinar Showcase series on LinkedIn. INCOSE Technical Services is publicly sharing INCOSE webinars and building a discussion focused on the topics presented on LinkedIn (and details can be found at webinar showcase) This is not to be confused with our standard Webinar series of new material/topics, continuing as always.

As these offerings are open to all, please feel free to share this information with any non-INCOSE colleagues who you think may be interested.
