Dear All,

Well I hope you have enjoyed the extra hour this week, woo hoo. In reference to our discussion on the Old Testament this video from Michael may help.

As mentioned I am returning to England in December, this will see the conclusion of my time with you as part of Bible Study at St. Michael's. I shall miss you dearly!

We'll need to pray at Holy Hour this week about how the Bible Study will be guided for the foreseeable future. As far as this year is concerned it means that we have only 2 more sessions left together, the 13th and 20th November.

Session 11 is concerning the Royal Kingdom - Part 1. We start the Book of Samuel. Required reading is 1 Samuel 1-4, 7-12, 15-16 and 26. If you have time to go deeper read the entire part of 1 Samuel.

Royal Kingdom - Part 1

The call of Samuel - 1 Samuel  1-7

1. Can you remember any other great figures in the Bible who were born of women whose bodies were unable to conceive until God intervened? (Help? see Genesis 21: 1-3, 25:21, 30:22-24, Judges 13:2, 24 and Luke 1)

Israel asks for a King - 1 Samuel 4-8
2. It is the end of the era of the judges, and the people ask for a king. Why do they want one, and what does this show about their relationship with the Lord?

3. What does God tell Samuel the outcome will be, if they have a king?

The First King of Israel: Saul - 1 Samuel 9-31

4. Israel's request for a king was a refusal of Gods kingship and reflected a desire to be 'like the other nations' Are you looking to anyone other than God to be king in your life? Are you having trouble trusting him, and trying to take things into your opwn hands the way Saul did? Look through the Psalms and find one that speaks to your heart. Many of the early psalms were written by David. Meditate on one and see if you can share with the group on Wednesday...

Please be sure to pray before you read, perhaps come to Holy Hour if you can,

Tomasz

Thanks a lot, Tomasz, for all your contribution.
It was almost a "shock" to me when I heard of the news... well, it's a loss for us, but maybe it's good for you and your family? You will be dearly missed...
