Hey!

I hope you have had a peaceful weekend, apologies I missed a beat yesterday and forgot to email. We've made a good start to our timeline and as ever the Holy Spirit is revealing much to us in the Word of God as we learn about His ways with the Israelites.

Going a little deeper, check out this sermon by Father Henri Nouwen - Being the Beloved - will be interested in your thoughts next time we meet....how does what is shared here apply to our Bible Study?

On to Session 8 and we now read more about the Desert Wanderings of the people of Israel. We had talked about how the Israelites were given Rules to Live by, Rules to Worship by and then the support of the Levitical priests. Your required reading is Numbers 1-2 and 10-12 for the first two questions then Numbers 13-14, 16 - 17, 20 and 22-24, if you wish to go deeper read the whole book of Numbers.

Preparing to Leave Sinai (Numbers 1-10)

1. Read Numbers 1 - 2. What did God have Moses do before setting out, and for what purpose?

Israel Rebels (Numbers 11-25)

2. Read Numbers 11. At the start of their journey, what does Israel's failure to pass God's test say about their relationship with him?

3. It looks as though Israel is ready at last to possess the land promised to Abraham. Read Numbers 13 - 14, what happened? Compare this test against what happened to Adam and Eve?

4. What does this teach us about the nature of sin and its punishment, is there a correlation?

5. Numbers 16 - 17 comes from a second attack on Moses' authority, this time from the people. What is the charge this time, and to whom is the real challenge made?

See you all on Wednesday, God Bless!

Tomasz
