Session 4 Bible Study Reminder

Greetings All,

    I hope you're all having a relaxing long weekend. This week we have Holy Hour at St Michaels 7pm, come one, come all. Some really good ideas for our Bible Study contribution to the Building Campaign. I will send another email to capture some of your ideas and pray about.
       
In preparation for next weeks study we are asked to read Genesis 12, 15 - 18 and 22. If you wish to go deeper read Genesis 12- 24. In 'Patriarchs - Part 1" we'll be learning more about Abraham and God's promise to him and his descendants.

Patriarchs - Part 1

God's Promise to Abram - Genesis 12: 1 - 9

1. Read Genesis 12: 1-3 What 3 part promise does God make to Abram?

From Promise to Covenant - Genesis 15 and 17

2. Read Genesis 17: 1- 23 What was to be the significance of circumcision to Abrahams family? To what did it bind them?

An Impossible Child Genesis 16 - 18 & The Ultimate Sacrifice - Genesis 22

3. In Genesis 15, Abrahams faith in God's promise to give him descendants as numerous as the stars was exhibited in his belief. Now he is being asked to prove that belief by acting on it. Read catechism 143 - 147 and 154 - 155 as well as James 2: 14 - 23. What is the relationship between obedience and faith?

New Testament Connection: What does Abrahams act foreshahow, that God would ultimately do? Give as many parallels as you can between the two events.
