SPOTLIGHT
These sessions are designed to help anyone who wants to learn to meditate. Maybe you’re starting from scratch. Or you’ve done some meditation before in a different tradition. Maybe you meditate already and need to be reminded it’s always about learning. However you come to it, the starting point is: it is a simple daily practice. Like everything worthwhile, it takes time but it produces wonderful fruits in your life. You’ll probably wonder ‘why didn’t I do this before and how did I think ‘it’s not for me’ because it is so obviously for everyone?’

READ OF THE WEEK
More Being, Less Doing: An Estonian Priest’s Discovery of Liberating Humility
Tauno, the Estonian National Coordinator, shares about his journey and the oblate path. As a Lutheran priest, army chaplain, husband, and father of two, Tauno discovered the contemplative path during the 2020 pandemic and, driven by a lifelong interest in monastic spirituality, quickly sought to become a WCCM Oblate. His journey, marked by wrestling with feelings of unworthiness, became a profound rediscovery of the core Christian teaching: salvation by grace alone. His story culminates in his Final Oblation at Bonnevaux and his realization that contemplative life, inspired by the Rule of St. Benedict, is fundamentally about "be more and do less".

To be fully alive, John Main (1926-82) says, is to experience life in the power of Jesus, to live our lives in union with him. Jesus invites us to this fullness of life, but the invitation comes with a challenge: “If a man will let himself be lost for my sake, he will find his true self.” Meditation, Fr John says, is a way of losing oneself.

UPCOMING ONLINE EVENTS & RETREATS

Celtic Christianity was one of the most vibrant expressions of the Christ-event in history. This year's John Main Seminar will explore the reappearance of Celtic Christian wisdom today at a critical moment for human evolution. We will do this through spirituality, poetry, art, the Celtic sense of the sacred in Nature, pilgrimage, monasticism – and meditation.
