Next MOSB Meeting is on November 10th

Gentlemen

The fall weather has turned cooler and with Halloween behind us, we can set our sights on our last big fundraiser of 2014 – our annual Christmas Tree sale.  This year marks the 15th year of this St. Brigid “institution”. Please read below for more details on how you can get involved:

MEETING REMINDER:  November 10th – Fr. Tim Hepburn
Our next monthly meeting will be on Monday November 10th.  We’ll start gathering at 6:30pm in Corbett Hall.  Our guest speaker will be Fr. Tim Hepburn, Vocations Director for the Archdiocese of Atlanta, at 7:00pm.  We hope to see you there and encourage you to bring a first-time guest.  Remember – if you bring a first-time guest, both you and your guest eat for free – you can’t beat that deal!  Please be sure to click the “EASY” button below to RSVP.

Christmas Tree Fundraiser – We Need Your Help!!
As mentioned above, our annual Christmas Tree fundraiser is right around the corner.  We officially open for business on Friday November 28th (aka “Black Friday”).  As always, it’s all-hands on deck as we need your help to make this another successful endeavor.  How can you help?  Here are some ways:

-       Sign-up to volunteer – volunteers are assigned to teams that generally work 3-4 shifts.  It’s a great way to share your time and talent within the parish, and we’ll have plenty of food and adult beverages for everyone.  Plus, we’ll have the big screen TV set-up so you can watch football.  Oh yeah, and in between all that, help the customers with their trees . . . .

-       Tree lot build out – on Saturday 11/22, starting at 8:30AM, we’ll build out the tree lot.  We can use plenty of hands to move items, put together the tree racks and get us ready for business.

-       Tree delivery – our first tree delivery will take place Sunday night 11/23 at 7:30pm.  We need help unloading the trees from the delivery truck and placing them in the racks.  This process usually takes about an hour.

In addition to helping out as a volunteer, we’d love to have you as a patron!  You can order online via the MOSB website at www.menofsb.com. Also, encourage your friends and neighbors who need a tree to stop by the lot as well.

If you have any questions about the tree lot or would like to volunteer in some capacity, please email our “chief elf”, Jay Williams, at jay.will...@statefarm.com

Donations Wanted for those in Need
Here are two ways you can assist those in need – bring a donation for either organization to the next MOSB meeting and receive a free 50/50 raffle ticket.

The following food items have been requested by the St. Vincent de Paul Society:

  •    Milk (liquid 32oz, not refrigerated)
  •    Cereal (small or regular size box)
  •    Tomato or Creamed Soup (10.5oz size)
  •    Tuna (6oz can)
  •    Jelly (12oz)
  •    Pancake mix, complete style (1lb)
  •    Syrup (12 to 24oz)
  •    Chicken or Beef broth (14oz)
  •    Canned chicken or meat (12oz)
  •    Canned tomatoes (15oz)
  •    Black beans (15oz)
  •    Meal maker/Hamburger Helper (6oz)
  •    Oatmeal (1lb canister or 12oz instant)
  •    Peanut butter (18oz) – no large jars, please

  •        If you have any unused toiletries that you’d like to donate to Mercy Care, please bring those as well.  Toothbrushes, toothpaste (travel-size), shampoo or conditioner (travel size) and bar soap are all welcome.  These items are used to create “toiletry kits” that are distributed to the homeless.  If you’re a frequent traveler and tend to “collect” these items, please consider putting them to good use!

SAVE THE DATE – MOSB Golf/Tennis Fundraiser – Monday May 18th, 2015
For those of you who enjoy golf, just a reminder that the date of the Msgr. Paul Reynolds Golf/Tennis Event will be held on Monday May 18th, 2015 at the Country Club of the South.  Whether you have a sweet golf swing or are a hack like me, we’d love to have you join us, so please mark your calendars.  Foursomes are welcome!

I hope to see you on Monday November 10th!

God Bless –
Todd
