Howdy CRHP brothers!
(I apologize in advance if you’re getting this more than once…)
This year we’re upping the excitement level of our annual men’s CRHP reunion rafting trip as we take on the Class III-IV Ocoee River in TN! This will be a full day trip on the Upper and Middle Ocoee, which will travel through the course designed for the 1996 Olympics whitewater events. The release of the entire river from the headwaters only happens a few times a year, so this will be a unique trip. We will again be going with Endless River Adventures, the same outfitter we used on the Nantahala River.

Pics of past Endless River Adventures trips on the Ocoee, and the Ocoee Whitewater Center where we will park for the day.
When: Saturday, June 13
Meet at St. Brigid parking lot at 6:00 a.m., depart at 6:15 a.m. It’s a 2-2 ½ hour drive, and we will make a pit stop for snacks on the way up and sit down for dinner on the way home.
- If you want to plan a camping trip or depart from another location, you can drive separately and meet us at Ocoee Whitewater Center (OWC) at http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3794867.pdf . Address: 3171 Hwy. 64, Benton, TN 37307, (423) 338-3300
There are full amenities at the OWC for bathrooms and showers, so bring a towel and full change of clothes. The OWC is maintained by the US Forest Service.
Arrive at the OWC at 9 a.m., meet Endless River (ERA) guides and assemble boat crews, guides, etc. This is a professional trip, not self-guided, so we will let the ERA staff decide how to sort us by ability and size when we get there.
Cost:
The cost is $95/person which will be paid in advance, plus a few extra dollars to contribute to tipping your guide, a few bucks for gas, and food before and after the trip. Budget $150 for the entire trip to be safe. If you are interested in attending, I will send details to you privately about how to make payment directly to ERA so I’m not the middle man on the money. Payment of $95 to ERA via credit card will be due no later than Wed, May 27.
Lunch is provided by ERA on the river bank between the upper and middle sections of the river.
Helmets, life jackets and splash gear are all provided by ERA. Yes, helmets… This is big time whitewater.
If you want to bring a younger male family member, the minimum age is 12 and they must be a good swimmer.
If you’re able to drive, please let me know when you RSVP! It’s about 100 miles from St. Brigid to the Ocoee Whitewater Center.
