LONDON LESBIAN AND GAY SPIRITUALITY GROUP

 

 

We meet in the large meeting room, downstairs at St James's Church,
197 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LL. (Church Hall at the side of the Church
in 'Church Place' down a winding stairs) NEAREST TUBE: PICCADILLY
CIRCUS between 7 and 9.pm. There is a suggested donation of £2 to
cover the cost of hiring the venue. The group is non denominational
and a safe space to explore and share thoughts on what spirituality
means for you.

 

 

Each evening session will have its own focus.

 

 

 

27 FEBRUARY 07: MEDITATION: A SESSION LEAD BY DOM LAURENCE FREEMAN A
BENEDICTINE MONK.

Dom. Laurence Freeman, OSB is a Benedictine monk who will talk about
meditation in the development of spirituality. There will be a
meditation session followed by a question and answer session, to
enable group participants to experience some of the benefits of
meditation practice. He is well known internationally and has lead
seminars with the Dali Lama

 

 

 

13 FEBRUARY 07: THE GAY SOUL AND AUTHORITY

 

All human beings depend on guidance. As gay folk we have learned to
adapt to environments that tend not to be supportive of our Selves.
Generally let down by organised religion whose task it should be to
provide a bridge for the gap between inner experience and outer
reality we are left to our own devices. Sexual and spiritual coming-
out run along parallel lines and they both demand of us to question
established inner and outer values with very little outside support.

 

In this workshop we will explore our relationship to authority .
Opening with a meditative exercise followed by a keynote speech. We
will then be given time to share your thoughts in pairs. After a
break, a guided visualisation will lead you further into the topic.
The session will be closed with group feedback and a healing meditation
