Hi everyone....

This email is announcing that St. Joseph's website is down and will be for at least 24 hours.  The company that hosts our site and thousands of other Catholic sites, including the Chancery in Worcester, is experiencing a HUGE problem on their end.  I'm forwarding the email I received from them to explain what is happening.  The link in the middle of their email (
http://ecatholic.us/ddos  )  is really helpful in explaining what the problem is.

I feel bad for them as they are a small young catholic company with a wonderful work ethic and bright future.  This must be horrific for them.  Say a little prayer it all is resolved sooner rather than later.

I will forward my weekly email, with links to our website, as soon as the site is back up.  This may not be until later this weekend.

Thanks for your patience.

Major Outage: DDoS Attack

Rackspace has informed us that tonight's DDoS attack (distributed denial-of-service attack) was targeted specifically at us (or one of our clients' websites). Therefore, at 11:45pm CST on Thursday, our primary IP had to be taken down in order to eliminate the DDoS attack.

We have been exploring options with Rackspace throughout the night, but unfortunately, the standard protocol for DDoS attacks is to ride them out. This typically means leaving the IP address offline for at least 24 hours, which means that all of our sites will likely be down until at least late Friday night.

We are so sorry for the trouble that this attack is causing you and we will continue to remain diligent in working with Rackspace to explore options to try and alleviate the attack sooner so that we can restore all websites. Thanks for your prayers and patience as we ride out this unfortunate attack.

You can learn more about DDoS attacks here: http://ecatholic.us/ddos

We will post an update Friday morning on our Status Page.
