Announcements/Reminders:
  • Change of Mass time:  Tomorrow, Sat. Nov. 11th the 4:30m Mass is rescheduled to 6:00pm to accommodate the Mercy and Mary Retreat.  We welcome all those attending this most special retreat.

  • What did you say? Available soon, our parish will be offering wireless listening devices for those with a hearing impairment. This system was generously donated by our Knights of Columbus

  • Thanksgiving Baskets: We are accepting donations of Turkeys, potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, gravy, veggies and juice weekdays from 10:00a-4:00p.  If you need a basket for yourself, or someone else, contact Sr. Agnes at 508-248-7862 to reserve one.

  • FREE winter coats: At the Winter Coat Closet at Holy Trinity Church, 446 Hamilton St., Southbridge, Saturdays 9a-11a. Winter coats (no dry clean only pls) are accepted as well.

    • HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION: Feast of Immaculate Conception, Masses on Thurs Dec 7th at 7:00pm and Fri Dec 8th at 8:30am & 7:00pm.

    • DON'T FORGET: KOC are selling Christmas Trees.

    • 20 + C + M + B + 18 - Traditional Blessing of the Home.  Blessed chalk is used to mark the doorways.  The numerals consecrate the New Year.  The initials remind us of the legendary names of Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar and also stand for the Latin Motto "Christus Mansion-em Benedicta" (May Christ bless this house).  Blessed chalk is available in the Narthex.

    • 5 Christmas Photo Albums! - Our photographer, Bob Ritacco, worked double time last weekend capturing all the Masses and celebrations.  Take a peek at them by going to our homepage (www.stjosephscharlton.com) and looking for the Photo Albums module on the right side of the page about half way down.  He captured "The Holy Family Tableau", "Santa's Visit". "Happy Birthday Jesus", the "Children's Pageant", and "Christmas Eve and Day Masses".  When you see Bob (he's the guy with the camera to his face) be sure to thank him for us.  He does an outstanding job chronicling our events.

    • Blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, jackets: New or gently used items can be dropped off at the church by 5:00pm tonight (Friday) for distribution to the homeless this evening. 

    • Rectory Open House:  All are welcome after the 8:00am and 10:00am Masses this weekend.

    • Pot Luck and a Movie - Tomorrow evening, Jan 13th after the 4:30 Mass is a Pot Luck dinner followed at 6:30p with the movie  "To the Wonder" featuring Ben Affleck and Olga Kurylenko.  Follow this link to a description of the movie.  Come and bring your favorite dish to share and a friend or two.
       
    • Illuminate - This Sunday at 6:30 with Fr. Matt Williams as the featured speaker.  The evening includes praise and worship music, Adoration and an opportunity for confession.  All are welcome!!

    • March for Life - This week on Jan 18-19, our Lifeteen youth, along with their chaperones, will travel to Washington DC to participate in the March for Life Rally.  While back at home, everyone is invited to attend the Pro-Life Mass with Bishop McManus on Thurs Jan 18, at 7:30pm, in the Cathedral of St. Paul, 19 Chatham St., Worcester.

    • Pulpit Exchange - in observance of "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity", please welcome Rev. Jim Chase, of the Charlton Federated Church this weekend at the 4:30pm and 8:00am Masses.  Fr. Bob will preach next Sunday, at the Federated Church, at their 10:30am service.

    Link to Ask the Priest: Sometimes the confession line is long and confessions continue into the 4:30 Mass.  If one priest is celebrating, while another is hearing confessions still, and I wait in line and go to confession after Mass has begun, am I still fulfilling my obligation to attend Mass even though I missed part of the Mass?.

    • March for Life -  Our Life Teen youth, along with their chaperones, are in Washington DC to participate in the March for Life Rally.  Please pray for a wonderful experience and their safe travel home.

    • Reminder - when school is closed due to inclement weather, morning Mass is cancelled as well.

      • Fr. Jonathan, Pastor at Our Lady of Providence Parish in Worcester, thanks everyone who purchased raffle tickets, totaling $1,010.00, to help fund a new heating system at his parish.
      • Visitation House thanks those who donated during their recent Baby Bottle Drive which netted $2,253.00 for women facing crisis pregnancies.  
    • Blessing of Throats - Takes place at all Masses this weekend. 

    • Ultreya - Tonight (Fri. the 2nd) Mass at 7:00pm followed by Ultreya.  Everyone is welcome, you don't have to have made a Cursillo weekend to attend.  Bring any applications for the upcoming Men's weekend (Feb. 22-25).

    • Men's Cursillo - is taking place this weekend at Immaculate Conception Convent, 600 Liberty Highway, Putnam CT.  Please keep the candidates and team in your prayers.  

    • Last Years Palms - May be returned to the receptacles in the Narthex.

    • Cancelled - Saturday morning Adult Faith Formation with Fr. Donato who was to talk about "Did Jesus really Rise from the Dead?"

    • 24 Hour Adoration - begins this morning (Fri)  after the 8:30am Mass and continues until Mass tomorrow morning.  Everyone is invited to come and spend some time with the Lord.  Confessions will be available the full 24 hours.

    • There is an amazing video about the Sacrament of Reconciliation found at the 'formed.org' website.  You will need our parish code to view  7526f6  Note: the "Lent To Remember Video Series" will show and discuss this same video this coming Monday (the 19th) at 7:00pm in the Cornerstone.
