CRHP X and CRHP XI Brothers,
Howdy! I hope all of you are doing well, and for those of you who are fathers,
I hope you had a wonderful Father's Day. :)
If you were at Mass on Sunday, you heard Fr. Don talk about how the church is
having some difficult times financially. I guess churches aren't immune to this
economic upheaval either, just like many of us have been affected.
As Fr. Don said, the only way for St. Gabriel to "right the ship" is
to either boost revenue or cut expenses. Given that our church has so many
wonderful ministries, programs, and employees, I'd hate to see any cut in
expenses that would affect these ministries, programs, and employees. To that
end, I think that the CRHP men of St. Gabriel ought to try and organize
something to help out the church. Does anyone have any ideas? I thought of
seeing if we could try and get that car show that was there last year to come
back again. Maybe they could raffle off a car, with the proceeds going to the
church. Additionally, maybe we do something like compile a book with a bunch of
our own BBQ recipes in it (I'm sure many of you like to BBQ) and sell it, with
the revenue going to the church.
Anyway, there are probably tons of ideas that we could come up with if we put
our heads together. Would anyone like to try and meet sometime soon to bounce
around ideas? It would give us an excuse to go out and drink beer again (always
good...lol!), and we'd be helping the church in the process. If you have any
ideas or want to get together to bounce some around, please let me know.
Also, can one or more of you please forward this on to as many of the pre-CRHP
X men as possible? I've only got easy access to email addresses for the CRHP X
and CRHP XI teams, but I think that the more people we can get in on this, the
better it could potentially be. Plus, it would be less of a "hit"
financially on each of us individually if we have more people involved. If CRHP
XII would like to get involved, too, then that would be great.
I look forward to hearing any ideas you may have and if you'd like to get
together soon to discuss this. By the way, I did NOT copy Fr. Don in on this
email. I thought we could see if we can put something together on behalf of the
CRHP men, and then surprise him with whatever it is we decide to do.
