Let’s do this – let’s recruit five more St. Gabriel’s players, preferably CRHP alumni. That will allow us to form two teams.
That way, neither team will ever forfeit because both teams will play on Tuesday evenings, and St. Gabriel’s players from either team can fill in where necessary.

I would say lets form the second team, and have a draft at Delaneys Bar and Grill. Anyone up for coaching team II?

There will indeed be at least two games between the two teams (if the second one makes) during the season, and perhaps into the post-season tournament as well.
I do not anticipate having to change colors of shirts. The beauty of this scenario is that neither team forfeits…ever, because of the ready supply of players. Teams, umpires and league officials are aware of ‘illegal’ substitutions whenever a team is in danger of forfeiting. We’ve all seen it, and perhaps even participated in it, where a team will scrounge players from the stands or competing teams just to avoid a forfeit. We all look away and let it ride.
My hope is that both teams (if the second one makes) would never have to resort to ‘illegal’ subbing, but if a game is likely to be a forfeit, the St. Gabriel’s teams would help each other out. If the opposing team does not complain, then there’s no problem (unless, of course, the sub is Rob Schmidt, former Phillies great).
But, of course, who the heck am I?

Also, Chris Schraeder has opted out due to scheduling conflicts, so we’re down to 15.
Two young men from the current team have expressed an interest, but they have not gone through CRHP yet. I may ask them to remain with the “farm club” (the current team under Carl Iovinelli).
Carl Schuckenbrock has ponied up his $30 and Kevin Arnold has put his in the mail.
I’ll need everyone’s entry fee by THURSDAY, JUNE 4. If I don’t have your funds on June 4, I will assume you’ve decided not to play.
Season starts on June 23 (subject to change).
