Critical Resistance and
Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB) cordially invite you to...
Communities Rising!
Community Solutions!
On June 17th and June 18th CURB members and allies will be
mobilizing Statewide Days of Action throughout California to end the 40 year War
on Drugs and Mass Incarceration.
California is at the center of the national
discussion on state budget deficits, the effects of 40 years of the
drug war, and the mass incarceration crisis. With a growing $26
billion deficit and a shrinking social safety net, California
still imprisons more people than any other state in the U.S.
On May 23rd, in response to the infamous Plata/Coleman
overcrowding lawsuit, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that California
needs to reduce its prison population by more than 40,000 over the
course of the next two years.
As we approach the 40 year mark of the war on drugs and
as California
policymakers start making moves to reduce a deadly prison system, our
solutions and analysis are at the forefront!
Please join CURB member
organizations and our allies for a series of statewide Days of
Actions happening next week throughout the state of California. If you aren't in California,
please support us by forwarding this email to your contacts
throughout California.
