Future of the society

Dear colleagues

 

It is some time since the last executive team completed their term with the society.

 

We must decide whether to continue the society, or only maintain an email group for messages and occasional updates or to close. in 2024, there will be the opportunity to celebrate fifty years of clinical services for people with sexual and/or relationship issues in Sheffield and this is a project that SSSSR could be a part of.

 

Please share your thoughts with the group or by DM.

Thanks for the opportunity to reply, Kevan.

I find this group a really valuable additional source of recent meetings, guidelines and interesting publications which helps those in solo private practice / non-sexual health private sector services.

So I do hope we can continue.

Although I appreciate the resource, I am aware that I don't give much (if anything) back to the group and am conscious of work and effort that other people put in.

As such I do not want to expect others to put in the effort when I don't! 

I toyed with whether to send this email and am not sure if people are replying directly so the rest of the group are not aware, but wanted to give some feedback.

The group's engagement is appreciated and thought radio silence might not indicate that.

Dear Torie

Thanks for sharing this feedback to me and to the group. Many people have responded privately and the general consensus is to keep the group list open.

If anyone is willing to help by standing for chair or treasurer or secretary of the society this would be great. Our work next year is primarily to think about how to celebrate the 50 years landmark and then we can decide how to take things forwards thereafter.
