Incredibly sad to read this obituary about an extremely talented and delightful gynaecologist. Mike was chair of BSPOGA twice in the 1990's (now renamed BSBOG) and encouraged me to join the society and supported my election to chair in 2005. Together with our executive team we organised the global ISPOG meeting in Edinburgh in 2004 (just before the EFS congress in Brighton!). Mike was truly charismatic and infamous for his statement that 'giving birth was the best thing anyone could do'. This book remains a valuable read: Psychological Challenges in Obstetrics and Gynecology: The Clinical Management Paperback (2007) by Jayne Cockburn & Michael E Pawson.
