article homosexuality in Syria

Hi,
I'm from Europe,
living in Damascus. I am currently preparing an article about
homosexuality in Syria, more specific in Damascus. I know quite some
gay people here, as I am gay myself, but I am looking for people
motivated to help me writing the article. The main theme throughout the
article is the taboo, that is imposed by tradition, religion, politics,
and that has created a certain self-censorship with the people. I am
interested in how thie 'issue' of homosexuality can live next o a very
conservative way of life (take for instance how Sha'lan is a very
conservative neighborhood, but yet one of the hotspots for the gay
community), and how it is materialised in the life of young gay
Syrians.

The article might be published on www.opendemocracy.org, and in GUS
magazine, a Belgian gay magazine, distributed all over Europe.

I am looking for serious people, who do have ideas and opinions about
this, and who can commit to write or correct my writings over a 2 week
period.
