SMS gaining popularity among senior citizens
Short Message Service (SMS) is not a hot cake among youngsters only, it is spreading its wings among senior citizens also. Senior citizens have also started using the facility to communicate with their loved ones.
A survey in Britain reported that 69 per cent people of age group 35 to 54 years are using the SMS facility like the young generation does. Similarly 50 per cent people of the above age group are also involved in it. One of the famous lines which is used in Britain while SMS is Lol that means 'laugh out loud'. Research reported that 54 per cent people use this line while messaging.
Middle aged and senior citizens have also started communicating through SMS in the city as well. Although messaging in Hindi was already started by a particular group of the society, but now people are getting attracted towards normal SMS services (English). By learning the SMS techniques, they have learned internet chatting and Facebook updates as well. Now senior citizens also enjoy chatting with their loved ones across the world.
Besides, few more short forms are there like: for writing 'Oh my God!' people write OMG; for writing 'take care' they write TC; 'See you' is written as 'C yaa' and 'By the way' is written as BTW. 'Good Morning' and 'Good Night' are commonly written as gm and gn. Such forms are used by the SMS users in city also. Very much like every part of the world, In Bhopal also it is very common for youngsters to message each other through mobile handsets. Earlier the parents did not understand such lines but now they also understand these trendy lines and also use them in their circle.
