My name is Kenta Izumi, a member of the UN-Forum Sri Lanka Study Program (SSP).

 

 

As you have already been informed by Ms. Moriya, I would like to enquire if it is possible for your office to kindly accommodate visit to your project sites in Sri Lanka.

 

 We are planning to visit Sri Lanka from 6 to 12 this September . The main objective of our visit to Sri Lanka is to learn the efforts of peacebuilding and establishing sustainable society after the long-lasted conflict.

 

We are a group of about 40 young professionals and students; we will be splitting into two groups of 20 when we visit project sites outside of Colombo.

(Of course we will be flexible about the number of people, depending on the situation.).

 

If possible, we are hoping to visit an IDPs site on 8 September in the north region (Such as Vavuniya, Killinocci and Jaffna).

 

Also, if possible, we would like to visit your office for briefing in Colombo on the 10 September.

UNHCR in Colombo can provide your study group with a briefing at 10:00 – 11:00 am on 10 September 2015. Please be present at UNHCR Office Conference Room of which the Address is : No 98, Rosmead Place, Colombo 7 (please note we are not in the UN Compound and it takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes to get to our office from the UN compound. J )

 

Given that UNHCR is one of the few Agencies that continues its work in the field from conflict times to date, our work with both IDPs and Refugee returnees are quite vast. If the need arises, we can accommodate your visit to an IDP site ( either a welfare camp or a returnee site) in Jaffna on 8 September.

Since I would like to determine our detailed plan for briefing, I wrote detailed plan as below. I would appreciate your comments or thoughts.

1.       Time(Our idea):

Since we are interested in UNICEF activities, I would like to ask you to kindly take some time for a Q&A session during a briefing. Our tentative plan is as below. I would appreciate your comments or thoughts.

o    14:10 - 14:20 : Arrival at UNICEF Office Conference Room   (we will come to your office from UN Compound, for your reference)

o    14:30 - 15:10 : Briefing by Ms. Una McCauley, Representative UNICEF Sri Lanka Country Office

o    15:10 - 15:30 : Q&A

 

2.                   Office Address:

We recognize your office address as below. If it is not right, I would appreciate if you could kindly inform me of the correct one.

3.                   Contact:

May I use your phone number ((+94) 112677550) in case I need to communicate with you if in any emergency? If not, could you please provide with me any number that I can call? I would like to tell my number to you after I buy SIM card in Colombo.

2. Others : We are planning to pick up lunch boxes from delivery service after the meeting on your place(around 11 am). We arrange we will receive the boxes directly from the delivery service. However, could you keep the boxes if, by any chances, the delivery service company fails to deliver the boxes to us? This is just in case.

Since we ordered the food box via a travel agency, honestly speaking, we are not sure the actual delivery company and how many boxes will come.
