Ok. (you must have known this question was coming).

We currently have our site developed using flash (www.confluence.ca).
Now that we are doing a refresh we are also going to be looking at
other technolgies, as an alternative or in addition to.

It'll be basically a content site with maybe some email newsletter
sign up functinality. I know there is quite a bit of open source CMS
out here (drupal, joomla). How restrictive, intuitive are these? Is
CMS the way to go now?

As a side, we are probably going with a newsletter tool (Constant
Contact), as part of this marketing strategy refresh. I looked into
it and its a good, easy to use tool for newsletters (cool
functionality, contact mgmt, intuitive, professional looking, tons of
templates to choose from, etc.). Cost is $15 / mnth for less than 500
contacts, if anyone is interested.

Hey Brad,

A CMS is a good idea, which one works for you depends on

a) are you going to develop the site yourself or contract out
b) what your needs are both now and in future for the site

The company I work with does Plone (plone.org) and Django (djangoproject.com) web site development. Plone is a big beast, good if you have a range of needs. For simpler brochure-ware sites, it's overkill.

Yeah, we are more of a DIY shop (like to play around with technology)... and our site will be basically brochure ware.  Basically we are looking to post about 80 – 20 static to dynamic content … we’ll have a look at those two.  Thanks.
