The rovers have been without there manager for the last few weeks. It came out of the blue and to be honest we have all been pretty much in the dark over it since the announcement was made.

The manager had apparently messaged Gary and said he just needs to step away until easter. So good news is the boss has come back a few weeks earlier than expected.

Chris kindly stepped up in a difficult time for the rovers and has done the club well considering just been chucked into the club. The club have just publicly thanks Chris for all his hard work and appreciate him stepping up in such short notice. The rovers manager is said to have thanked him personally as well.

So with all this in mind we did manage to get a small interview with the blues manager.

Interviewer:

Hey Dan, its great to see you back in the rovers camp. We just need to ask what actually happened for you to need time away from the club.

Dan:

The truth is this, I could feel myself mentally spiralling and had a lot going on at home. Its not a life or death situation, but it was something that I couldn't get away with. Ive been in this position before where I couldn't get myself out of my own head. At the time I wasn't able to make the sort of decisions that I made this time. Last time I didnt deal with it and ended up completed numb to thr world for 6 weeks. This time ive spent time working on my issues getting my fitness back on track and its really helped.

I think as men we dont talk about this stuff enough, or even take action quick enough when we feel ourselves getting to point. So if any one ever wants to talk about anytbing my door is always open.

Im buzzing to be back and I'm appreciative of Chris for helping myself and the team out while I stepped away.

Im looking forward to the rest season, survival is what we want this season now. Anything extra is just a bonus, injuries have killed our season.  We are almost back to full strength now so hopefully we can get some stronger more competitive matches for the fans.

I also need to get the youths back on track who are clearly having a hard time of it this season.

Interviewer:

Thanks for your time Dan, Thank you for your honesty and we are so happy that you are back. Here's to a great rest of the season.

It wasn't the welcome back game the rovers manager was wanted. However the performance more then likely didnt deserve the scoreline. But we can take anything away from the rovers opponents as they are themselves in a hunt for glory. Though teams trying to keep up with the current top 2 in the premiership are going to have a hard time doing so.

The rovers youth had a better weekend and put three points on the board.  Its not a great season for a youth side who have finished 2nd and 1st the last two seasons. Currently sitting in 10th place and 8 points behind the leaders. With only 8 games left in the league 3rd will probably be the best the rovers youngsters will be able to muster. It was always likely to be a bit of an upside down season for the youths as the manager has been trying to integrate some of the younger players into the fold as the older youths come into their last season of playing for the club. However things may have to change in the back end of the season if the Rovers youth set up want to at least hit that top 3. Which to be honest is probably too much of a stretch as it is.

A_Nisley 16 can 1 13 18 10 26 410 565 120 577

Progress has been good for these two, with 8 games to go of the season these two should be leaving themselves in a good position to make 19 main skill by the end of the season with a little bit of help from some sheeting abs. Its been a big focus for the Rovers with this one as they are ones for the future of the club. A bit of luck is likely to be needed as they are also potentially in danger of not getting quite what they need for both players to be sent out on Foreign loan next season so we are certainly hoping for a better end to the season for them both.

The Rovers seniors were up against Byker on The managers return last weekend and the score line was something of a blood bath to be honest.
Byker_Grove_Beavers 4 - 1 Butetown_Rovers

The score line doesn't do the Rovers any justice it was just one of those games, where the home side were clinical in front of goal and the Rovers just couldn't and didn't take any of the chances that they created. Tough game against the Snow Bears this week for the Rovers but we are hoping for three points as there is still a big possibility of being dragged into a relegation scrap again. As the Rovers only sit 6 points above relegation at the moment, however its one of those as those rovers are also just 5 points from third. So it could swing either way for the Rovers in the second half of the season.
