Subject: Job opportunity as interpreters for Asian/Pacific Islanders (for NHANES survey)

Dear All:

NCHS Division of Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys is requesting assistance to reach out to the Asian Pacific Islanders communities in Gwinnett County areas. They are recruiting interpreters for the NHANES survey – please refer to the attached flyer for details. They are looking for interpreters who can speak Asian or Pacific Island languages (including but not limited to: Chinese, Farsi, Persian, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Cambodian, Korean, Tagalog, Filipino, Urdu, or Vietnamese).

Note that the flyer is not for CDC employees but please forward to the local communities that may be interested in this.

Some introduction of NHANES is below and through the link.

“NHANES is a survey designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States. The survey is unique in that it combines interviews and physical examinations. To do this, the survey travels to 15 locations across the country each year in order to collect health and behavioral information on a representative sample of the US population.  In 2015, one of those locations is Gwinnett County.  As part of our preparation in each county, we conduct an outreach campaign through local contacts and organizations, the media, and local officials to familiarize them with the survey and ask that they help spread the word to encourage participation.   Fewer than 500 people in Gwinnett County will be asked to participate, but it is helpful if they have heard of the survey before hand, or people they know and trust have heard about it so they can endorse participation when asked.  The survey oversamples Asian Americans (among other race/ethnic groups)”
