A note from our
DirectorDear Friend of the
Arts,
Welcome to the inaugural
edition of
LCAR News, the newsletter of
the Henry Luce III Center for the Arts and
Religion. This online journal will keep you up to
date on what is happening in our studio, our
gallery, our classrooms, and our lives as poets,
painters, actors, musicians, dancers, and artists
of all kinds.
In this issue, we
celebrate the arrival of our new etching press;
introduce our current Artists-in-Residence; and
let you know about the latest show in the Dadian
Gallery. We also invite you to contribute to the
conversation by joining us on Facebook; adding
your thoughts on our blog, A Studio Incarnate; and
letting us know how we can better help you find
the Spirit through the Arts.
I look
forward to hearing from
you.
Blessings,
Deborah Sokolove,
Director
Meet the
Press
We are very excited about
the arrival of our new intaglio press. The press,
made by Takach Press Company in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, arrived at the first of the year.
This expands the possibilities for the studio and
future Artists-In-Residence, as we were unable
invite print makers in the past. The press is
large enough to accommodate 18" x 24" prints and
can be used for a wide variety of techniques
including: etching, collograph, monoprints and
embossing to name a few. Trudi Ludwig will be
assisting us in acquiring the necessary accessory
items needed for us to offer printing classes. To
celebrate, we had an official blessing of the
press on February 21st. The Wesley Community was
invited to attend and make a print of their own.
It was a whole lot of fun! To see photos from this
event

to offer a short introductory workshop in the near
future.
